The PP is pretty useless to the batting side unless they are pretty much kicking arse already (or are doing really really crap and are desperate).

In a good ODI innings you should have plenty of wickets in hand after 45 overs.

In fairness, he's not the first to see NZ's pudding decks and think he had to bend his back just a bit more to get the ball through at ankle height. No doubt he's a better (and quicker)bowler when he just rolls the throttle back a touch and lets his great height and seam position do the work for him.
