I hear Taylor may be out for the rest of the CH series. Needs confirmation - hope it ain't true.

gezzz this is never ending, Oram, Ryder, Elliot, Mills and now perhaps Taylor :/ we must be the most unlucky team when it comes to injuries.

Jinxed him, tbh.

Cricinfo Headline for Tuesday morning:

"Bond out of series, as Australia bat."

Why the **** has there never been an inquiry of some sort as to why our best cricketers keep falling to pieces and not to other countries?

The problem is that Hamilton is once again a smallish ground, so a medium pacer is required.

Having said that, I'd rather they just select Nathan McCullum. A great fielder and a good batsmen coming in at no.8(ish)

McCullum
Ingram
Guptill
Taylor (pray to the heavens that he will be fit, otherwise...)
Styris
Broom
Vettori
McCullum
Tuffey
Bond
Southee
Grrrr....Please please please NO more Broom. Watling's the obvious replacement for mine, but I wouldn't even care if they experiment with someone else ...anyone else, just not Broom, it's so painfully clear he's not up to this level. What amazes me is his incredible propensity to miss perfectly straight deliveries to be bowled or LBW. Even his CW fan-club have finally conceded he ain't up to it as far as I can see, why can't the selectors see it ...

Yep, Taylor is out of Tuesday's game. Looking like he may (pending assessment) return for Thursday. Franklin likely out for the remainder of the CH series.

Wonder if we'll ever see this side on the park at one time ....

Ryder
McCullum
Guptill
Taylor
Styris
Elliott
Vettori
Oram
Mills
Bond
Southee

That side is jizz inducing - but much like my fantasies about my favourite pornstars, its never going to happen.

Happy to see Stewart called up. Hope he does well and pushes Broom out of the ODI side when Taylor comes back. Am a bit concerned about our bowling options now though. Unless we show some real faith in Guptill, we're going to need Bond, Tuffey, Southee, Vettori and Styris to all bowl 10. What if one of those guys has a bad day?

Anyone else think that Guptill may need to drop down the order? I dont see him as being able to find the gaps and chip over the infield enough in the PP overs (at least early in his innings) or be a big enough hitter during these overs to keep the scoreboard moving. Given another go at 3 for Tuesday, it may be worthwhile dropping him down if he continues scoring slowly. Although, that said, I am not sure who his replacement would be if Taylor is out for the rest of the CH series.

Somewhere in Japan::dry:

Never seen Stewart bat but I will hope for the best. I think he will be a straight swap for Franklin, and by the sounds of the Paddy speak this morning, we will rely on five bowlers, with Styris bowling 10 overs. I believe Hopkins impressed enough to hold onto his place.

All of a sudden Styris will now most likely be batting at no.4 and bowling 10 overs:laugh:

Therefore,

McCullum
Ingram
Guptill
Styris
Broom
Stewart
Hopkins (wk)
Vettori
Tuffey
Bond
Southee

The batting still doesn't look that bad, but I'm extremely worried about our bowling attack.

Having said that, I expect Bond to take a bag of wickets in at least one game this series. Tuesday could be the day.

Just bowl first lads and try to be chasing less than 300.

Guptill has shown an inability to milk the bowling for singles. So batting him during the middle overs may not be a good idea.

I am really, really bummed by these injuries.

When I knew we were heading in to the series without Ryder, Elliot and Mills, I still thought we had enough to match it with the Aussies.

Add Oram and Taylor to that mix and, frankly, I expect us to lose. I know that most people expect us to lose anyway, but I actually didn't. Perhaps I could be accused of overrating this NZ team, but with the squad of fit players we had available at the start of the tour I truly thought we were good enough to win the ODI series, on merit, as long as we played reasonably well.

With the current team that's taking the field, they could all play to their ability and we'd still lose. That is disheartening. Franklin out is just yet another downer, although tbph Stewart couldn't really do any worse than Franklin with the bat, and I'm always worried whenever Franklin is handed the ball, plus Franklin is not in my "ideal XI" anyway, so it's not such a blow.

I think the team would be stronger if they also swapped McCullum for Broom (you could look at is as actually swapping Stewart for Broom and McCullum for Franklin, both of which would be valid moves imo even if Franklin wasn't injured) and it would be a commonsense move anyway as we need the extra bowler- but commonsense is not to be expected from our selectors.

Heard on the radio that Styris will bat 4 if Taylor doesn't play. A pretty sudden return to favour. Think it's a good decision though.

Good to see Ryder on the club scene. He bowled 10 overs even though he was urged not to.:laugh:.

Theres a minimal chance he may play in the second test vs Aus. Hmmm
