Best ODI XI You Have Seen

I was aware of Doordarshan televising the odd big game before 1991/92 - and, incredibly so it seems to modern ears, never mind paying anything for the privelage they demanded small fees to cover the cost of production! But it'd be fascinating to hear specific details, if you can find any for me, great.
Here is a clip from the 1981 tour to Australia under Gavaskar. By this time the matches were being broadcast live from all around the world. Just before the end of the clip you can see three Indian commenators for Doordarshan.

Then there is this short clip from Kapil's very second Test match (Lahore 1978). Its in Urdu but at the very start of the clip the commentator say that this was the first time a Test match between India and Pakistan was seen live on TV

Since we are on to youtube, here is a half hour interview with India's finest ever cricket captain (in my humble opinion) and one of its most clear thinking sportsmen. The presenter is the highly irritating Karan Thapar but inspite of his frequent and persistent sefforts to commit Tiger to say something sensational that Thapar may also be able to use in one of his syndicated paper columns, the junior Nawab comes out with flying colours saying what he feels about modern day Indian cricketers without calling a spade a 'bloody shovel' as Bishen Bedi is wont to do and being eminently fair and objective even when being critical.

Yeah you don't see many better than that.

Important to note also that that was when Michael Clarke was in his peak as a ODI player. Would score at a very quick rate, both with boundaries and scurrying between the wickets.

Surely they didn't have a top 7 that strong though (with Hogg and Lee also being very much capable with the bat)?

And Lee, McGrath and Bracken are all all-time great ODI bowlers.

So are McGrath and Warne, and Dale and Fleming would've been if they'd got the chance to play enough games.

The batting, meanwhile, was broadly composed of M Waugh, Gilchrist, Ponting, Bevan, S Waugh, Lehmann and someone else. I'd call that notably superior to that of the XI you named - which, BTW, never actually appeared together.

wtf was Majid playing at?
Presume he was doing the "take off-stump and put it outside leg" thing that bowlers often talk about doing the opposite of, to make the point that Kapil's tactics were illegitimate.

By the way, for those interested there is this wonderful video of Indian cricket history call Empire Of Cricket.

This is an hour of pleasure for those interested in Indian cricket.
Yeah, I downloaded the entire series a few months back when I first became aware of it. It also covered England, Australia and West Indies and can be found on youtube. I thought West Indies was the best myself. Excellent series. Came to know a lot of things about West Indian cricket history I was not aware of. Wish they (BBC) had done one for South Africa as well.

Bracken bowled on far less bowler friendly pitches to Fleming or Dale tbh. Gotta be consistent when you compare players from the 90s to 2000s.

That's weird. The team I am thinking of may not have had Martyn then, and may have had someone else.

I'll try and find the specific match.

Oh and what a catch that was, it was made to look so simple by this amazing athlete and cricketer named KapilDev, who is so under-rated on this forum and outside of it. It just boggles my mind.
