Yeah, but I don't think I ever didn't acknowledge this. I just got into arguements with people who thought he was ****.
Haha, fair enough. I honestly thought you had argued for Broom ahead of Styris, I stand corrected

I think he is a very handy batsman both in building an innings and in boundary hitting. An attribute he has done for Wellington many times. I also think he is an excellent 5th bowling option with a great slower ball and some good variations. I'd probably have him bat 6/7 ideally. 5 would suit him best but Elliott is the better man for the spot. Then I'd put him at 6 or 7 depending on the scenario with Vettori being the other man. Franklin is a guy who I'd see that could score a 50 (60) in one situation or 30 (20) in another.

Needs a better attitude but I think he is really trying to gain it.
Would you not agree that his career record is indicative of quite simply a poor limited overs bowler- just too expensive?

Also, what I see from Franklin atm is basically not international quality bowling. It's 125-130kph, swing is no longer a factor, and he's never been renowned for his accuracy. Does this disappoint you, do you think he will ever be a "proper" bowler again (hope you know what I mean by that), or do you think he can specialise more as an ODI bowler with slower balls, cutters, and improved accuracy/guile?

Franklin has always been more effective with someone putting pressure on the other end. Pretty sure his stats with Bond are excellent. He really should be more than just a good 5th ODI bowling option, but I doubt he'll ever gain his previous pace and skill again since his injury. I think he has developed his game lately to make him more handy in a way he never was before with his slower balls and guile but Franklin 05/06 was a bowler that would be more valuable to the black caps.

Far superior batsman to then so I guess we'll have to settle.

btw, forget whether I already posted this, but...

I honestly don't think Ingram is that bad.

Actually, I think he could be very effective in certain conditions, and I'm not just talking about against minnows on featherbeds. Apart from the absolute best/fastest bowlers I think he will be ok, just maybe not in T20s.

I think he's probably just about good enough to scrape his way through a barrage of 150kph bowling, and as soon as the bowlers drop half a yard of pace or accuracy, or the ball gets a bit softer, he is all over it.

Yeah in all honest Ingram against any attack that doesn't have this many 150 bowlers I think he could be very effective.

But would Vincent do better?

Gotta love the Chappell-Hadlee! <3

Best ODI series ever?
Yes. Too bad we won't get one next year.

Today was my favourite ODI in the last...well, ages. I watched the whole thing at the uni bar, and the atmosphere there was amazing. There was karaoke in there during the afternoon, but the poor singers were completely drowned out by the cheers when a wicket fell - especially Guppy's catch.

I was surprised by McCullum's under-appealing for the Ponting catch. He hardly went up at all.

Oram...honestly. We all laughed at the replay. What else can you do?

By the way, kudos to Australia for having such an awesome ODI winning streak. No mean feat to win that many in a row.

You just asked TH if Vincent could do better than someone who was "very effective".

I thought I'd just point that out.

I heard on radio Vincent wasn't being considered as he doesn't know if he might head back to England as his family is over there.
