Oh you mean the ONE MATCH were they needed the rain to win them the game? oh my bad yeah they "slaughtered" us that day obviously!! .
How can rain win you an ODI?

Anyway, no. New Zealand are just better. Miles better. In tests, I probably agree that the West Indies are ahead.

Almost looks as though it came down to Hopes never really getting going with teh bat.
White really struggled as well

Funnily enough I've noticed that a few times from White. If he doesn't come in and bludgeon it, he actually tends to be a bit slow.

McCullum
Ryder
Guptill
Taylor
Styris
Elliott
Oram
Vettori

Is a top 8 who are pretty much all gun tbh. Tonnes of potential too, McCullum and Taylor still have scope to better fulfill their potential, Ryder and Guptill have made excellent starts and shown rare ability.

btw I realise your dream XI doesn't feature Styris :@
It does, it however doesn't feature Oram. Franklin in for Oram. Vettori at eight in ODIs is ridiculous depth. Mills 9, Southee/Tuffey 10, Bond 11. Best team in the world is a very very real possibility IMO.

Have those 8 ever all played together?

I wonder how much we'll see of Oram again.

tbh last time(s) (as recently as a few days ago) you posted your dream teams, you always left out Styris.

Personally I would still have Oram if fit, but I certainly wouldn't bat him lower than 7.

His injuries/flattering to deceive with the bat annoy me as much as the next guy, but he's always been an effective ODI bowler and still seems to have that...even today he was good. Not suited to T20 bowling though.

Not to surprised I left out Styris tbh because usually I think him and Franklin are playing for the same spot along with Elliott. With Styris and Franklin bowling like they did today I really think they could take Oram's position. Though I am a HUGE Oram detractor so maybe I'm biased in that sense. He is effective and can bat but I don't think he is good enough to keep out the dream team lineup.

Probably not

And probably not much

The Oram thing is a real shame for me, I still feel (always have) that he can really bat. Unfortunately due to injuries, retiring from tests, a lapse in form, and (either voluntarily or by reluctantly acquiescing to a misguided coach/captain tactic) demotions down the order to be a slogger/bit-part player, he hasn't had many opportunities to contribute.

I truly think that Oram would be a much better bet than Franklin to play the role Franklin currently is. Oram has shown the ability to make big scores fast against good ODI attacks.

Didn't you guys win the last ODI via Duckworth Lewis?
From memory, I don't think "us guys" have ever won an ODI via Duckworth Lewis, incidentally.

New Zealand won an ODI against New Zealand this time last year on Duckworth Lewis. But the team that wins on Duckworth Lewis is the team that's ahead at that stage in the match, so more generally they won because they were the better team. More specifically they won because McCullum successfully unsettled Powell and Edwards and they started bowling bollocks after Gayle had given them a monster total to defend.

Mate NZ are a superior team to the current WI team and we dominated them in their last tour of NZ. WI have barely won a match in a few years, clearly they have HUGE potential and potentially one of the best attacks in the world but it's yet to happen.

Very very interested in our next tour of the WI.
I don't know if my memory is failing me but wasn't the tests and t20's drawn? and i remember the Odi series being settled via duckworth lewis in the last game, so i think "domination" is a strong word to use tbh.

For those who are getting their knickers in twist and claiming i'm a "troll", understand this, yes your lot are a better ODI team than WI, that's obvious right now, my view is we are the better TEST SIDE, you might not like it but that's just my opinion, no need to get upset about it.
