NZ is just better than WI at ODIs.

Bond/Mills/Vettori are three of the best ODI bowlers around, WI have nothing within a million miles of that.

imo NZ is currently 4th in ODIs, and that's in terms of talent and achievement/performance. We actually have a talented bunch atm, particularly with the bat where if anything we are full of somewhat underperforming talents (McCullum, Taylor kinda) and genuine ODI guns albeit in the infancy of their careers with apparently tons of ability (Ryder, Guptill)- complete opposite of gutsy battlers.
I wasn't talking about ODi's my notion was based around test cricket.

Troll? 8-) look man i just expressed an OPINION, i praised your side and admitted that my second point might be a little biased, you guys have the better team spirit but man for man there's not many i'd swap with your lot, lets remember the last time we were in your backyard you never got the better of us at all.
They did get the better of you! Hence they won the series!

New Zealand>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> *breathe*, >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> West Indies in ODIs. In every imaginable department. Better spirit, better fast bowlers, better spinners, better batting, better fielding, better tactically. Whoever washes the kits is probably better at it than the West Indian equivalent. Deal.

tbh fair enough, I've never really spoken to you before and perhaps thought it was acceptable to bag you out. The ******** call was not fair if you were expressing a genuine opinion.

I still completely disagree with everything you've said, imo NZ are well ahead of WI in ODI cricket, and for that matter they have been for the last decade at least....

What a game!!!!!! Reckon we'll have almost over taken SA in the rankings now.

Jeez Styris rocked, Bond won me a pint too. Good times.

The negative here is...does this mean that the selectors will now be justified in keeping Styris at 7 "because he's a finisher"?

I've never been a Franklin basher but even I can see that him batting 5 in today's line-up makes no sense. Also, his bowling is a constant frustration. He seems to have some pretty obvious technical problems (I'm no expert but his delivery stride seems way too long and, after quite a brisk run up, his body and particularly his bowling arm actually seem to decelerate through the crease) that reduce 10kph off his bowling.

Also, I know that Franklin has probably been a 125-130kph bowler for most of his career (always interspersed with spells of 140kph bowling that flatter to deceive) but is it just me or was he bowling slightly differently today? It was almost as if he'd given up on being a proper seamer and was bowling sort of back of a length, Scott Styris-esque cutters. Is this his future? Or did I imagine it?
May be he will be used as a specialist batsman for the last powerplay

This batting lineup probably isn't better. Full strength? Yeah we'd be better.

Well, that's odd. We're playing ODIs atm and that's what everyone is talking about.

I agree then, not much between NZ and WI tin tests, if anything WI might shade it.

However I don't see how our "team spirit" helps us in tests, we just stink, bit of a rabble tbh.

Oh you mean the ONE MATCH where they needed the rain to win them the game? oh my bad yeah they "slaughtered" us that day obviously!! .

EDit: "rain" meaning Duckworth Lewis

Yeah, tbf West Indies are way below full strength too at the moment.
Realise this but reckon we're still a little bit better. They may have a few better players but we even out far better. Really enjoyed watching this match.

Yeah, which would be lame imo

I think that's what they were trying to do with Oram as well, equally ridiculous. Turns a guy who at this point in his career (pre-today's injury anyway) should be concentrating on being a top batting all-rounder, in to a bits and pieces player.

Given that Styris' bowling has been pretty poor for a while now (even I can admit that) it would be crazy to reduce his batting role, and then presumably try to justify his spot in the team by making him bowl more.

Mate NZ are a superior team to the current WI team and we dominated them in their last tour of NZ. WI have barely won a match in a few years, clearly they have HUGE potential and potentially one of the best attacks in the world but it's yet to happen.

Very very interested in our next tour of the WI.

Styris has proved a lot this season IMO, dominated the HRV cup.

McCullum
Ryder
Guptill
Taylor
Styris
Elliott
Oram
Vettori

Is a top 8 who are pretty much all gun tbh. Tonnes of potential too, McCullum and Taylor still have scope to better fulfill their potential, Ryder and Guptill have made excellent starts and shown rare ability.

btw I realise your dream XI doesn't feature Styris :@

Yeah i should have made my point more clear from the outset, in Odi's your lot are clearly a force in that form of the game, in the longer version i think we're better.
