Haha, apologiesI am from SL. If you doubt, why don't you dig few of my old posts as see? or ask a mod for my IP and see where I come from?
Not the biggest reason. Out of every 5 persons in the world one is Chinese, and one is Indian. naturally Indian should outnumber all the other posters combined. The reason why you have more Indian voters is that, the guy(tendulkar) is Indian. They know about him. If there was a poll about Vaughn, Gooch, Thorpe...I wouldn't vote
That's doesn't take into account the interest of the thread drawn by a community. Not the biggest reason. Out of every 5 persons in the world one is Chinese, and one is Indian. naturally Indian should outnumber all the other posters combined.
by that logic tendulkar vs ponting poll should have been lot close ???There are more Indian supporters than West Indian ones, so the poll result will be biased towards Tendulkar.
awta...you should consider it a nickname, a mark of affection. I quite like/d precam.
I think Sachin is better but have been arguing against a few here because I felt they were simply denigrating Richards' awesome records... Do I at least count as semi-neutral or something to that effect?Like you are never influenced by nationalistic Bias toward NZ players.
There are many Indians who have voted for Richards in this poll. It is ridiculously stupid to accuse Indian members of having a Patriotic bias for voting against Richards.
To be completely honest, he never faced all of those guys at the same time. There were a couple of those Friendship series in Toronto when neither of the Ws played and the attack was led mostly by Aaqib Javed...That's a stupid little argument. Viv played Pakistan in 1975-1991 era where the main bowlers were Imran, Wasim and Qadir. Tendulkar played them 1989 - 2010 where he faced Wasim, Waqar, Saqlain, Mushtaq and Shoaib. Whenever Qadir vs SRT there was only one winner, which was not the case with Viv. You are the one clutching straws to be honest. The Pakistan attack Viv faced was best that Viv faced during his days, but inferior to what Tendulkar has been facing. Three world class bowlers (Viv faced) vs five (SRT faced). And, Viv did not face any bowler you'll have in the all time ODI XI perhaps except Imran and Hadlee. But SRT faced many who'd you have in your all time XI (Murali, McGrath, Wasim, Pollock, Saqlain, Warne, Waqar are few of them)
Ponting stepped up and dominated in the 2003 final. Tendulkar failed. And Tendulkar cannot think of finishing a game like Bevan. Stupid thing to say.
Not Tendulkar's fault he hasn't won a world cup. He was Man of The Series in 2003 and averages superb in World Cups. Again, stupid thing to say.
Bah! De Silva dominated 1996 WC final with both bat and he ball. Should make him the greatest ODI player based on that.Ponting stepped up and dominated in the 2003 final. Tendulkar failed.
Its stories like the 2003 final that make people question Tendulkar's greatness.
Kinda shows you how pretty non-cricketing reason can influence a vote. When I was a kid you just feared when Richards came out to bat. You expected something fantastic to happen.
When Tendulkar comes out to bat (especially against Australia) you think he might score runs but you just never have that feeling that he's going to take the game by the scruff of the neck and MAKE things happen like Richards did.
Man, can't believe you're not getting this.To me, your conclusion seems that, you can't count Indian voters because they are all biased and that's their base of reasoning, for the most part.
what's the sample size...Man, can't believe you're not getting this.
Nowhere have I implied that all Indian voters are consciously bias, because patently that's not the case here.
But I certainly do think most fans (from any country) are naturally bias when it comes to their own players, even if it is unintentional. Reckon most fair-minded fans would acknowledge this.
My conclusion would be exactly the same if the situation was mirrored in a Ponting vs Lara poll & 17 Australian's voted in a completely opposite fashion to that of 27 neutral fans, so it's not inclusively about Indian fans at all.
Interested in what other conclusion one could make from stats that demonstrate Indian fans favour Sachin by a ratio of more than 2 to 1 when neutrals favour Richards by a similar margin. That's hardly an insignificant difference.
Here look at Ponting's tourny stats and Sachin's. Also their avg during wins.Ponting stepped up and dominated in the 2003 final. Tendulkar failed.
Its stories like the 2003 final that make people question Tendulkar's greatness.
Have provided it a couple of times now.....sample size 44 (17 Indian fans, 27 neutral & 0 West Indian's)what's the sample size....
Sweeping unfounded speculation, show me your data that demonstrates any of those claims are influential to the poll result in any-way whosoever. I've provided you with data objectively showing a very clear pattern & if you still can't see that, I'm unable to help any furtheryou know there are many other reasons that go into this. Such as doing good against ones home country. Richards raped English. Ponting was garbage against Indians. These has lot of barring on votes.
Well, if that's the case you're clearly not looking at things from an objective, logical or rational perspective at all.........................(IMO of course)Also, don't think that Im purposely trying to show that I am missing your point. I may be just interpreting differently.
