I'm actually getting to the stage where I'm embarassed for the opposing teams. This is really not good. Thank goodness that an Ashes summer next season will revive cricket in this country.

Also, with a fast bowling battery consisting of:

Johnson
Bollinger
Hilfenhaus
Siddle
Lee
Harris
Nannes
McKay
Tait
Bracken

Australia really is very spoiled right now for top shelf quick bowlers. Yes, I realise that a few of these guy are injured, but the others have really stepped up in their place.

You're talking about the Roach comment right? my comment about Watson was a little cheeky but it's true though, the guy hasn't stayed at his crease for an entire innings against us.
From just over 1950 test matches (each containing up to 4 innings) there have only been 45 instances of an opener carrying their bat.

I don't know why I am posting this, you seem very much like a troll.

I was just stating a cheeky FACT, Watson's been up against a shambolic WI reserve side so i'd have thought he'd have a chance of staying at the crease, Gayle did, it was just a simple comment, nothing to crash the car over.

For Watson to carry bat it would take a lot more effort than Gayle. There are other people in the Australian lineup who can bat for longer than 5 minutes.

WI have been very lucky that Lee has been injured. Would have made the ODI's and T20 even more one sided (if that is possible).

There are lots of cheeky facts rom the ODI series like,

Shane Watson scored almost three times more runs in 4 innings than Gayle and Dowlin managed in 10 innings between them.

Bolinger took 11 wickets @ 11 runs each and Roach took 2 wickets @ 42 runs each.

At least you will be competitive in your next series.

Yeah those are impressive stats indeed, AGAINST OUR RESERVES!! .

I probably see things a bit different to you, if a player gets selected to replace an injured player for Australia I see it as an opportunity for that player to make an impression. you see it as more of an opportunity to call players clowns, reserves and ridicule them.

The bottom line is the players we've called upon to replace our stars are simply not good enough, they probably wouldn't even beat Pakistan or Bangledash right now let alone a full strength Australia, when we had some decent players to call on we drew with you in the tests, see the difference?.

You mean like Chris Gayle?

Nah like Adrian Barath, Dwayne Bravo, Sarwan etc.
The same Barath and Sarwan who combined for 55 runs in the Test match?

That Test match was drawn based entirely on Gayle's 2nd innings century. One of the finest innings ever made in recent times on Australian pitches.

This is despite Gayle have done more with the bat and in the field to push Australia than any of those guys. And, in the first Test, even with a great ton from Barath, with no score from Gayle, they got smashed. Next two Tests, Gayle fires, WI push the Aussies to day 5 in both. It's no coincidence.

Point is, Gayle is the biggest predictor of WI success right now. Whether he has decent back-up or not, if he fires, the WI do well and when he doesn't, they don't. That he's had a run of outs in the ODI series doesn't mean he's suddenly turned to crap, provides no leadership, etc. His lack of form is a reason for the WI lack of success, not his fault alone. It's a guess but I'd suggest if the selectors went temporarily insane and dropped him, the WI would do far, far worse.

Sammy

TBF, I was referring to his bowling as he's being played as though he's a specialist in that field
Sammy is a lot better than a park cricketer.
He took 7 wickets in an innings on Test Match Debut in lords. And he took 2 5fers in a row recently against albeit a lowly bangladesh team. He has taken over 30 Test Wickets at under 30. He hasnt got grat pace but he is accurate and nagging and if there is a green top available he would be effective not the greatest boelwer but at least on par with Jacob Oram of NZ.
Has great 20 20 stats can't arfue with that.

Erm MYTH, both Barath and Bravo scored 100's in the tests too, just because Gayle hung around for an entire innings once doesn't mean he was the best player for us in every test, i'm a WI fan and i just don't believe he's a natural leader and he seems to "fire" once in a blue moon these days, when Kraigg Brathwaite matures over the next year Gayle will be out on his arse imo.

Haha, I seriously looked at that for like a minute before I realised it wasn't an acronym.

And what about Bravo's 100 in the first innings of that draw? does that not count then? 8-) .

I don't think there's anything to be gained from going down that path. If you say that then we can say that England's victory in the 05 Ashes doesn't mean that much as McGrath was injured in that crucial second test.

Yes but he was clearly the best batter in Adelaide and Perth.

Meh, you hate Gayle so I can see this is pointless. Making it even more pointless is that there's no way he'll be dropped any time soon so I'd advise you to deal.
