*Official* England and England A vs Pakistan & Pakistan A in the UAE

:) That's absolutely fair enough. If you were against his selection at the start and don't believe he's shown any signs of becoming a fully fledged international, then criticise away! It's a good job we don't all agree on all players, selections, etc, or this forum would be a much duller place!
His selection had absolutely nothing going for it.

Domestic OD average of 30 with a strike rate of 70. Anyone expecting anything substantial from Denly was deluding themselves.

A stupid selection, particularly considering he was picked ahead of guys like Trott and Davies who have far superior OD records.

Finally got a wicket, Broad gets Alam. This is going to be a cracking end to the game. Could go down to how well Shahzad bowls, if he gets his 4th over that is.

Hahha Bumble.

That was great from Razzaq though, always liked him since the world cup back in 99.

What a display from Razzaq! A great demonstration of clean hitting, taking the poor debutant Shahzad to the cleaners to finish it with an over to spare!

A good game but englands opening pair failed again, trott just strugled and he should have scored more runs for the amount of overs batted in a t20, kp look really good though.

Fantastic. Really feel great for Abdul Razzak. Where the hell he was hiding all this time? Absolutely chuffed for him. It is such a pity we won't see him in the IPL.

Yeah, just as you clearly overlook his only score at ODI level is against a below strength Ireland.

We clearly have different standards
Speaking of which, as far as I know I'm the only person on here to have watched that game, and he was absolutely awful in that innings. Pretty sure he played and missed a good 25% of the balls he faced, and even when he got out his strike rate rendered his innings mediocre at best. Regan West made him look an absolute embarrassment. I've barely seen a worse ODI fifty in my life.

On the other hand, batting that day was anything but easy for England's batsmen- I'm pretty sure Denly top-scored, and England only won the match after a horrendous Irish choke. Denly was lucky as hell to score fifty in that innings, but it's not really an example of him cashing in when the going's good. Ireland were way below full-strength but there was some good bowling going on.

Are you bagging Denly or are you saying "wait a second, you can't judge it purely on the basis of "oh it was against Ireland?""

Imagine how awesome Razzaq would have been at T20 at the peak of his powers.

Would have been the most valuable player in the world 6-8 years ago.

lol Razzaq is so random

He absolutely murdered NZ in 2003/04, and then as I recall went to Australia in 04/05, I was expecting him to set the world alight and he played some of the most stonewalling innings I have ever seen and then complained of some weird ailment which he related to eating too much spinach????

Is it generally accepted that he is some years older than the listed age? Everyone goes on about Afridi, but Razzaq is the same age and seems even more prematurely decrepid. He seems to have been regarded as over the hill since about 25.

I think Razzaq started his career at like 18 and that was what 11 years ago?
...
SSSSSSPPPPPIIIINNNNAAAACCCCHHHH!
But on a more serious note, I don't see why he can't do tests because if he opens and score like 30 or 40 real quick and then at least we are somewhere tbh... And in the T20 Razzaq showed that he is clearly capable of bowling well.

But on that match yesterday... What the hell?
That's the problem with T20, you don't get repect values for your wicket and we lost 30 runs for 3 wickets and still win the match in the last 5 overs by 5 bloody huge sixes? Strange but very amuzing.
