I'm disappointed in McCullum. Defended his run out of Murali, and still would, but it's not fair for me to criticise people like Clarke for claiming dodgy catches and then defend McCullum.
In a similar boat here TBH. Feel for Shakib who had battled well to 87 and looked on track for a maiden test century.

Apparently McCullum was unsure so they asked the umpires who obviously decided to not refer it (which I believe they still can if they're not confident it carried?)
This is what Vettori has said, yes? Well, I'm unconvinced. If McCullum wasn't sure and said so, why wouldn't the umpires have referred it. Sounds like a load of smoke and mirrors from Vettori to me.

What, so you're suggesting Vettori lied? If he had, it strikes me that the umpires would likely have said as much. And until such a rebuttal becomes public, I don't see any reason to call Vettori's story into question.

I am going from what Vettori said after the day, but also from what the Bangladeshi batsman said - not seen the incident myself and because of the effect of foreshortening, I'm not sure how a replay would confirm it either way.

Martin and Southee are so terrible imo. At least Southee should get better with age.

McCullum and Vetorri did ask the umpires i beleive, they of course can call upon the 3rd umpire themselves if in any doubt.

Also why didnt Bangladesh use a review

time for some fresh faces in the new zealand attack. if they can't bowl bangers out for under 400 god help em against aussie.
who do you suggest? McKay rpob would of played

You have Arnel, then the cuboard is pretty bare

loosing OBrien and Bond was always going to hurt us

agreed after mckay and arnell things are pretty bare, perhaps like australia did in the late eighties it's time to fast track some young players with potential and stick with them. who they are i wouldn't have a clue. i always liked mark gillespie but his chances have probably gone now.

Other then Tim Southee, New Zealand doesn't have any young bowlers with potential other then perhaps Trent Boult (who's struggling to get back to 100% fitness)

Not that it would really matter anywho, they would just get the Southee treatment. Dominate domestic cricket, get selected, get dropped a week later.

They've just shown a replay of what happened after the catch and it seems this is the case. McCullum did say something to Vettori and Vettori did go talk to the umpires, they just didn't review the catch for some reason.

Anyone who's watching: what's the deal with the run-rate when New Zealand are so far ahead? Good bowling? Conservative tactics? McIntosh just being McIntosh?

The bowling has been pretty accurate, but I can't see any real reason why we arent pushing on. I don't think McIntosh is capable of it, I fully expect Taylor to get going soon though.

That's good to hear.
