Surely it's time for Ashraful to go. Surely there must be someone who can do better than an average of 16podd. Which is what he's done since his 129* against Sri Lanka... back in 2007. Since then he's passed 50 just once, for 101 v the same team. And in 60% of those innings he's failed to pass 20.

Surely there's someone better...

Actually, take out Sri Lanka and he averages less than 19. But here's the kicker- he's been out for less than 10 on 41 occasions in 80 innings. That's diabolical for a specialist batsman.

i'd be giving naeem islam a try, he has ODI experience and has done a decent job despite batting lower order, he has a decent FC record (for BD standards) and he got a not out century in his last FC and probab ly would be one of the NCL's leading run scorers if he was playing any of the matches. if not that then move riyad or mushy up the order, if need be take the gloves off mushy and bring in dhiman as the keeper.

Yeah Naeem is a decent shout, it is hard to judge players on domestic averages when you see the mighty Bashar, Habibul performing very well.

Good on Mahmudullah, hope both of these chaps can get a new highest score after today.

Might eat my words but the decision to play Patel over Arnel annoys me now. Patel has been anything but effective for his 8 overs.

yeah it can be tough to use domestic averages, i'm pretty sure ashraful's domestic FC average is around 40 and raqibul hasan was averaging 40+ maybe even 50+ when he first got into the test team.

Does it surprise anyone that Mahmulldulah, who only bowled a handful of overs in the NZ innings, is batting as low as number 8. Being a tad underused, wouldn't you say?

Time to drop Ashrafel, move Shakib to no.4, Ahmed to no.5 and Mahmulldulah to no.6, and bring in another bowler?

I see Southee has been warned for the second and final time. Is he still bowling from Rudi's end? Why wouldn't they just change the end?

if they're going to bring in another bowler i suggest shuvo:

shuvo can bat a bit as well. but i don't like the idea of shakib at no.4 yet, it's alright when he's in form but when he isn't.... if they bring in shuvo riyad doesn't have to bowl much at all so can move up the order and focus more on batting. riyad at 4, naeem at 5, mushy and shakib can be interchangable at 6 or 7 but i'd probably put mushy at 6 and shakib at 7 because mushy is just a bit more solid in terms of temperament. or they can drop ash and bring in another keeper and play mushy as a specialist batsman so he could possibly bat at 4 if they did that.

Cause he was running straight down the middle of the pitch, I don't see Tucker seeing things any differently to Koertzen.

But where would you bat Mahmadullah (sorry about lack of spelling skills:))?

Yes and no. There is no real point in picking an extra bowler just for the sake of it. Bangladesh have performed well lately as the middle order and even Shahadat has often offered support, if say the other batsman with Mahmudullah got out straight away when Madmudullah was on 0* it would be an absolute waste.

I think having 8 batsman (yes I'm counting Keyes as a batsman) helps the team not lose as much, which is definitely a good thing.

Also I suspect Mahmudullah will get through more overs in the second innings.
