I neeeeeed all roundddderrrrrr and bowleerrrrssss
I agree with NUFAN, Vaas can bat much higher than that. Just curious, but why are you opening with Lara? Marvan and Sanath are more than established in that role I reckon. That leaves you with a middle order of Lara, Hussey and de Silva which is pretty darn good IMO.

However, you definitely need bowlers pretty badly. I think you missed mentioning one of your players in that lineup though.

You've only got 8 players listed there, should you not have 9 players in your team? Looking a bit light on the bowling side it must be said.

Vettori is his extra player

1 Atapattu
2 Jayasuriya
3 Lara
4 De Silva
5 Hussey
6 Sangakarra
7
8 Vettori
9 Vaas
10 Swann
11

Go for a quick for number 11 and pick an all rounder at 7 who bowls seam up like Brian McMillan or Flintoff etc.

imran & a good fast bowler should make it a decent side

With Vettori, Vaas and Swann, I dont think he needs an all rounder. A good fast bowler would be a better investment. Considering there's only one more bowling slot left I think a big name fast bowler would serve him sell. That batting order is fine.

It's one thing wanting that player, it's another winning the bid for him.

There's going to be some oddly balanced sides I reckon - suppose the only way round it would've been to categorise players more - say have 2 openers rounds, a spinner round, etc.?

God, no, Marc. Part of the fun is balancing the sides the way one wants/is able to. You're trying to straightjacket things too much.

I'm only throwing out ideas as to possible amendments to the rules - not necessarily going to adopt any of them.

One thought I did have was perhaps having a proper player list and a muppet list and only giving muppets to defaulters?

I quite liked the way the current draft was setup. Having too many rules and restrictions tends to limit tactics. If someone wants to nominate a player who's not that great then I dont see why they shouldn't. Some people may see it as a strategy to help them win. Personally I just focus on my own team with my nominations including the likes of Sobers, Walcott, Marshall, Larwood and Hutton. Pity that I dont always get them but sometimes you get other players in that round who are just as worth your while.

On another note, I wonder how much cash everyone has left. Only way to know for sure is in the final round although some smart estimations are certainly not off the cards..

Erm, looks like I've made another ****-up!

Of course, Lohmann is already gone - I just mistyped Alec Bedser as George Lohmann!

Amended list:

A Bedser (Alec)
S Gupte (Subhash)

I Khan (Imran)
B Lee (Brett)
D Lillee (Dennis)
T Lock (Tony)
F Mahmood (Fazal)
S Ramadhin (Sonny)

Wait Sid Barnes as in the batsman? Surely thats not right, gonna presume is Sydney Barnes.

Yeah, to be honest, I've had a bit of a crappy last week, and since things tend to happen in 3s I've one more thing to come :(

Anyhow, 6 in so far: Pothas, simon, NUFAN, Blakus, silentstriker and Himanv

You spelt Simon without a capital, hopefully that's your 3rd blemish and everything else is sweet!

Does everyone have about 24 hours now?

:)

Roughly speaking, yes.

Another thought I've had about possible future drafts is that maybe the penalty for non-submission may be a bit high (considering the person seems to always get a muppet, the highest bid may seem to be a double whammy?)

Given you have 3-4 days between submissions if someone hasn't submitted their bids in tha timeframe then to be honest I don't think they can complain at the double disadvantage.

Also could you send me my budget when you're able to and I'll submit my bids straight after that.
