"Negative" bowling and tactics part of Test cricket - don't like the commentators going on about it. It's up to the other team to counter it. Same thing when India did the "negative tactics" against Australia - the suffocation in turn led to a collapse and an Indian win that game.

Don't like that wide call either.

3 am here, amazing batting is keeping me awake but for the Harris's line. Outside the leg stump with the ball not even turning in is stupid

A) It's up to India to counter it.
B) SA would be happy with a draw, so India's job to figure out what to do.

I don't think it's great strategy considering how much time is left, but it's their choice and I don't like the wide call. I realize it's the umpire's prerogative but the problem is when the opposition is going at 5.5 runs an over in Test cricket after 40 overs, I don't think it's necessarily negative for the long term of the game for a team to just try to restrict for a few overs and catch their breath. I think that should be a legitimate part of cricket.

Thank God - I thought Cullinan and Sivaramakrishnan were going to get into a Ponting vs. Tendulkar debate again.....for once, I'm happy for the flood of crazy Indian supporters who apparently told Cullinan off last week...

I don't think Harris' negative tactics will be as effective because Sehwag is batting and also Sachin isn't under as much pressure as the last innings.. so he'll be willing to come down to pitch of the bowl to play some shots and he has shown the intent in this innings so far to come down the pitch.

yep, that's what is happening and that's why I think that's stupid as what Ind wants is to go past SA w/o losing wkts and then turn it on. Even if we go at 3.5 an over till we reach 300, it still plays in to our hands (though robs entertainment value) .... But even umpires are calling some of those balls wides so we are getting runs of them anyways
