What a delivery it was to get rid of Smith! Certainly the best delivery of the season for me. Smith is clearly Zaheer's bunny indeed.

Chennai is better.
Nah, not in any of the Tests I've watched. Nothing compared to Eden Gardens crowd. This crowd deserves a Test match every year IMO. Make the other grounds happy by throwing a few more ODIs their way, they'll be happier, and so will those of us who want to see full stadiums.

The difference between the Chennai and Eden Gardens crowd is that the Chennai crowd doesn't go dead silent when the oppositions made a good play.

And that's one of the reasons they are worse than Eden Gardens. I frankly find it sort of embarrassing to cheer the opposition. What the hell happened to being the 12th man out of the field?

We appreciate great play and good entertainment. Doesn't matter who provides it. The Ind-Pak 1998 test in Chennai for example.

Depends on whether you like the sport or the eleven men dressed in the national colours.
That's a false dichotomy. You can enjoy an opposition performance, and you can enjoy all the neutral games you want, but that doesn't mean you have to lift them up on your home ground. That's ridiculous.

I love the NFL, and love watching neutral games. I really like baseball, and really enjoy watching games where Phillies aren't playing. But when they are playing, and I'm at a Phillies stadium, the mere thought of cheering the opposition home run at the expense of one of 'my' players is disgusting.

It's such a false cheer anyway, give me a crowd that shows how much they love their team anyday. It's such a soulless enterprise to see crowds clap boundaries and wickets regardless of which team takes it - might as well not have the crowds.

You're an annoying man sometimes.
Only sometimes?

What is wrong in cheering the opposition for genuine fair play? I find it forgivable than interrupting an international match with stones and bottles, which unfortunately is ALSO a part of Kolkota's legacy. The Garden has given us many matches to remember, but also matches an Indian would like to forget as well. Chennai in contrast has given us moments to pride on our sporting culture even in despair of defeat.

Nah GTFO. Lords crowd > Eden Gardens crowd...

and I'm a huge fan of Eden Gardens as a test stadium. But you show respect to Amla when he tons up.

Yep, he is Dhoni's buddy! .... He will probably get more chances than some of the others but eventually it's his performance that will decide his fate. Vijay, Badri, Kohli and even the new kid on the block, Panday, are knocking pretty hard. Badri will have to make most of the opportunities that he gets
Dhoni is not going to jeopardize his own captaincy record for accommodating a buddy, now is he? Whatever Dhoni is, he isn't a ****** when it comes to reading the game.

Selectors better be hard at work evaluating seaming all rounders (like Pathan) for that slot too. I'm something of an Irfan fan (still) and if we're going to arrange comic situations like debuting Saha - wouldn't too dumb an idea to give that guy another try. In tests, the last 3 or 4 appearances he made, didn't disgrace himself with either the bat or ball (and was crucial in Perth, MoM). Doing OK in FC too, took a 5-for and scored a 40-something in Duleep trophy finals (last week).

I bet you're one of those **** people that boo when a third umpire decision comes out as "not out" when your team is bowling.
Why is that a bad thing? As a fan of cricket, I want the right decision. At the game, I'm going to let everyone know exactly how I feel emotionally about getting a decision against my team.

Without passion, sports loses all meaning. To me anyway, I couldn't watch sports like that, unless I am neutral to both teams. I'd rather go do something else that'll have an emotional impact, like read a good book or repeatedly call McGrath just to hear his voice.

Example: I enjoyed that Dale Steyn spell more than any other moment in cricket for the past several years. I can appreciate it, but if I was at the ground, I'd boo him at every run up.
