Vijay gone - he has now gotten starts virtually every single time he has played and failed to convert. This is a big problem at this level. Especially that shot - sweeping and trying to go for six?

How is AUS losing in IND 08 in a period of transition/decline, remotely comparable to IND probably losing in SA in this current series when they are still ranked # 1 & supposedly on the up?8-)

If INDs batting dont step up in this series, it will prove their depth is up to scratch yet. A key part of being # 1 is having a good back-up FYI, AUS depth in the glory years stepped up in many series when main XI players where injured.
Just using your logic to dimiss the series
...

As for talking some sense now.. Any team will struggle with their regular 3 batsman missing and when its against World #2 team..... than it'll become even more tougher.

FYI.. i don't remember a match where Aus played without Ponting, Hayden n some other batsman during that period.

So can we dismiss every series played in Australia between 96 and 07 where Australia had an attack containing McGrath and/or Warne, because the opposition had no chance and noone expected them to win?
Well WI 96/97, SA 97/98 & probably 2001/02 where the only team who came to AUS in that period who potentially had the artillery to win in AUS while McWarne where playing. So not every opposition tour was rendered a lost hope/dismissed before the tour began.

India three down and Badri already the last pure batsman.....

Tell me that's not completely ridiculous to go into a Test with. For India, of all places...

Wouldn't worry too much, converting will come with experience. Look at Watto for example.

So does that mean that you could write off every other tour?

I mean England were never expected to be competitive in 05 either.

Whatever it takes!!!
Ermmm they are chewing their nails!

You bet it was so bloody hard to praise Steyn'gun' when they said 'Well done Steyn! What was superb' etc etc etc

Anyways, fantastic bowling spell!
lol.. what a load of crap.... Most people here have been praising Steyn for a very long time now, esp. the Indian fans here at CW... Amazingly **** post!!!

haha yeah..
They are pretty annoying.... find them more biased than Australian commentators.
The most biased SA commentator was wessells and he is with the team now. I don't think remaining are comparable to AUS level. Channel 9 commentary became a big bull****.

Look at my avatar, or my posts for the past 24 hours. I don't think anyone has been less than lavishing in their praise of Steyn.

:-O On the contrary every one was expecting ENG to challenge at that time. They are the 2nd best side and playing in home. They got four quick bowlers, 3 of them can bowl in 90mph consistently. Finally they had an attack that can take 20 aussie scalps.
Before the ashes, from WI 04 to BAN 05 their record stands at P 18 W 14 L 1 D 3

Maybe the English expected themselves to be competitive, but the feeling in the rest of the world was that Australia were going to put them to the sword.

I still don't think you can dismiss a test series victory of any variety. Australia were in transition, true, but they still had a number of very good players and would have been a challenge for any side in world cricket.

It's easy to dismiss accomplishments, but credit where credit is due, India outplayed Australia.
As far as aussie is concerned, any test Australia ever lost is because their team was in disarray and the opposition got lucky with conditions, umpiring, batting, bowling, fielding, weather, football, baseball and the President... 8-)

lol.. that is some achievement.. Are they really that poor today? I know Gavaskar talking about Tendulkar is almost equal to having to listen to Mark Nicholas about Shane Watson's muscles... :p
