But seriously, guys. Lionel Messi is as good now as he was 2 years ago. That's why he's scored goals 4 times as regularly since. I see the light.
His goal scoring rate has indeed increased, but i dont necessarily see that as a sign that he has gotten better watching him play. Messi IMO since 07/08 has been peaking at a similar standard.

But thats not the point, how many defenses in La Liga are as physical as United in 07/08 Brazil in Copa America 07, or like Chelsea or Inter Milan currently?. Bullying Messi is a tactic that is what has been proven as as way teams can keep the great Messi quiet, this is why either Chelsea have or Inter have a chance to beat Barca in this CL if they clash.

So wait wait wait... he's supplying the same number of assists AND scoring 4 times as many goals, and you don't think he's a better player?

Pretty idiotic to suggest that players can have a peak when they remain at the same level all their careers. Open your eyes. 8-)
Haha what?. You can't be seriously suggesting Scholes & Giggs currently are not past their ultimate bests...thats not up for debate

Its like watching a top batsman smoke runs againts poor attacks on flat decks. Barcelona aren't being challenged in La Liga thus he his getting easy goals.

When he enters the CL & plays Inter or Chelsea (a quality attack in difficult conditions) we shall see if his struggles in the past againts rough defenders has been eradicated or not.

Oh I see. It's not that Messi's gotten better. It's that every other team in the league has gotten worse. Cool.

But wait, how can the teams have gotten worse when the passage of time has no effect on playing ability? I. Just. Don't. Know.

Your ability to understand this phenomenon will never improve, unfortunately.

He wasn't debating it.
Then who where these players who reamined at the same level throughout their careers then?

Yes. Watching La Liga thats pretty obvious.

But if Messi has gotten better can be proven if he faces a physical team with a strong defense. If he isn't muscled out like in the past i'd be willing to change my POV that he has improved.

La Liga teams or rather Barca regular challengers like Madrid & Valencia have either gotten worse or just remained stagnant. Thats fact. Passage of time has had an effect on them.

You cannot draw a comparions with that & Barcelona being of similar quality right now to what they where in 07/08 when United beat them in the CL. Passage of time has not made one ioata of difference to them in the last 1.5 seasons IMO based on what i've seen. You or whoever don't have to agree with that position, thats my POV & im sticking to it...

But I thought teams and players didn't get worse with time?

I'm pretty sure he's going to reel out "the Nou Camp has got much flatter in the past two years" some time soon.

Good job picking at the posts. I clearly explained in portion below in which you quoted, why this does not apply IMO to current Barcelona team & 07/08 team which United defeated in the CL.

It certainly would have were it not for the fact that the groundsman has remained the same over the past few years.
