It's just what happens when you shoehorn someone who's always been a winger or attacking midfielder into a defensive midfield role. He's not failing to track back because he's lazy and doesn't give a damn, it just isn't occuring to him to track back because for the whole of his career it hasn't been in his job description. The positional sense just isn't there, and you only have a half-second before the man gets away so it has to be instinctive.

He's never been a winger or attacking midfileder for us. Ever. He's just **** and lazy.

Meh, that's where I always remember him playing in the Carling Cup when he was younger. Same role Hleb and Rosicky played. Was always pretty evident that the defensive side of the game wasn't his strength.

Nup, he was always a central midfielder who sometimes went forward. Never played as a designated attacking player ever. As for evident that defence wasn't part of his game, do you have any evidence that he can do anything well?

The Foster rumour has to be bogus surely.
Tottenham have been pursuing him (and James and Begovic) all window though. I don't see why it's so surprising. It's not like Man U are playing him.

West Ham reportedly in talks with Spurs over Robbie Keane. Interesting stuff.

It's all relative. His defensive play is shocking whereas his passing is merely mediocre.

All the blogs I read are absolutely fuming.
For me we had three players yesterday who were absolute passengers and you can't possibly win a game against United with 8 players. I don't know what has happened to Gael Clichy but it's obvious he's struggling badly. United knew it, they went at him from the first whistle and it worked for them. He is playing so poorly, he has been all season really, and I've got huge doubts about him now. The problem is the alternative, Traore, is not much better. However, while Clichy's form might be as dodgy as anything, I won't ever fault him for application. He tries and he works hard.

Which brings me to Denilson. If you had hoped he might learn a lesson from the second goal against Stoke last weekend then watching him yesterday was even more painful. Lack of ability is one thing, it's not a player's fault if he's picked, but lack of effort is unforgivable. Denilson is just plain lazy and stupid at this moment in time. I've already highlighted his lack of awareness for Rooney's run. Contrast the two. Rooney is going flat out to try and score. At the very least Denilson should be doing the same to stop him. Problem is he has no clue he's even there and after more than 150 games for us he does not have the excuse of inexperience. He gave the ball away for the third then didn't even try. The ref, a 40-something year old man, ran faster than him. Get Aaron Ramsey in this team now. Let Denilson be the squad fodder he is. He said he'd show Evra and United he was man, it wasn't men against boys. He was a boy.

Finally, the goalkeeper. Can anyone look at him and not see a man who is broken? His head is melted. There are those who will say he didn't have much chance with the first but flapping into the net like that is symptomatic of his season. It's his second own goal and after the one against Man City he had that 'chest infection' and didn't play for some time. The kick out late in the second half straight to a United player would have been comical if it had been another keeper for another team ... but it was our keeper. It was the kick of a man who doesn't really care anymore, or can't care. He is a nervous wreck and I'll continue to say it transmits itself to rest of the defence. Goodplaya reckons he and Gallas don't even make eye contact anymore. How is this being allowed to continue?
Then goes on to criticise Wenger for the squad being the way it is.

Another suggests that Gallas and Almunia refuse to make eye contact, it also rasies the question.... What other Premiership sides would Almunia make?

Van der Sar, Reina, Sorenson, Cech, Given, Robinson, Howard, Hahnemann, James, Begovic, Schwarzer, Hart, Green, Jaaskelainen, Friedel, Jensen, Myhill > Almunia.

Surely missing a few names there, but I got tired with typing.

Myhill can be seriously scratchy as well. Although he did put in a performance that Almunia is definitely incapable of, a few weeks ago.

Watford striker Marvin Sordell has joined Tranmere on a month-long loan deal. Corrin to be pleased.
So dire at not having SSN, was so much more exciting last season with the Arshavin saga.

Edit :
1702: We are hearing that the website of the Spanish newspaper Marca has got a story about Real Madrid's Argentine midfielder Fernando Gago signing for Manchester City for 16m euros...

:thumbup::thumbup: In by far the most important news of the day Wojciech Szczesny's loan from Arsenal has been extended for the rest of the season, I love you Mr Wenger.

Got a winger and a striker on loan until the end of the season as well but they will probably be fairly poor but have mild hopes for John Akinde.

Can you not have Almunia instead?
I know it is a lower league but watching Szczesny over the last couple of months I find it hard to imagine him doing any worse than Alumunia and certainly Fabianksi (if the Stoke match was anything to go by) Will be playing regularly for Arsenal next season or the year after I rekon.,
