Yeah good move by SS on getting Gibbs. He's the guy I nominated. The reason I nominated him was that I already had Laker and thought any team who gets Gibbs is going to have a worse spinner, compared with me. :)

I'm actually surprised SS would select a spinner lol.

I'm happy to break my streak of just Englishman, pity I got a Saffa now :P Adcock is an awesome talent, basically think of someone like Steyn so far in his career, but better!

Hobbs+Knott+Botham+Laker+Adcock.

I don't know yet what positions Knott and Botham will bat, I guess it depends on the rest of the batting lineup.

Possibly not, I have Kapil Dev, Marshall and three front line bowling spots available. I dont think I really need any more bowling than that.
Thing is there's only 2 more bowling rounds to come - so that scenario isn't going to work out.

Considering he got him for 6 bucks, he most probably didn't set out to select him. He was given him for the token bid :p

My highest bid for a player this round was $20, and Gibbs was definitely not at the bottom of my list (I had five players below him) :). I didn't set out to 'get' anyone. I ranked them in the order which I thought would get be a decent player for almost free. Which worked out as I had hoped.

Thats a bit tough isnt it? surely the 11th round or something should be a "nominate anyone". Because tbf some of the selections have been pretty questionable, like asking for a batsman and someone nominates more of a bowling all rounder etc...
Also in these I'm a big fan of five bowlers and with the likes of Khan, Kapil Dev, Benaud they are all genuine number 7's and they compliment having four other bowlers.

To be honest, all the batsmen selected have been batsmen or batting all-rounders, likewise the bowlers have been bowlers or bowling all-rounders - which would you say has been in the wrong place?

Besides that, even if the 11th round is a "pick anyone" - that hardly helps anyone signing anyone on the list because of the nature of the draft, and a 6-1-4 formation is more realistic than a 5-1-5.

Also, I'd say that with your bowlers so far, you'd only really want 2 more frontliners and a batsman providing a 5th option.

i think a 5-1-5 is just as traditional as a 6-1-4 line up. The whole reason I went Flower and Dev was so I could have 5 front line bowlers. In the end I've spent 3m on those two when I probably could have gotten Healy/Garner or something similar for a fair bit less.

Oh well, I'll just have to re-jig the line up as to fit them all in. But its not gonna be anywhere near as good as it could have been.

Lance Gibbs, clearly not the quality of my other players, but for $6, I'll take him, and that fills my spinner role. :) So pretty happy with the value for money.

The great thing about him is his economy rate of less than 2.0. He can definitely keep an end tied down and allow my main bowlers of McGrath and Miller to take bunch of wickets. As I said, I am going to have to make sacrifices due to my budget so Gibbs is not the quality of the others, but still a very good player.

Miller, McGrath, Gilchrist, Hutton, Gibbs!
$6 for Lance Gibbs??!! Thats a sensational bargain.

Had to pay slightly more for George Lohmann, though I didn't think I'd get him TBH - was actually hoping for one of Kapil or O'Reilly.

Yeah Garner was probably the quick I wanted. Instead I'll have to make do with Neil Adcock who's average is a whole 0.13 more than Big Bird.

I agree with Simon really, I don't know why it's an issue going 5-1-5. I don't want our sides decided on who has the most capable 5th bowler..

Team thus far. No complaints, with my budget problems I am never going to have a chance to pick up a true star of the game, but cannot dispute the quality of players received.

How many sides over history have played in a 5-1-5 lineup though - hardly any because of the length of the tail and lack of batting (5 specialist bowlers just doesn't happen)

The thing about this draft is it's not possible to have some teams 5-1-5 and others 6-1-4 because there's 17 players in each round and people wouldn't end up with what they're looking for in the last round.

Must admit I am really starting to like your team. I don't know so much about Ironmonger, but the other 4 are some of the best ever at what they are good at.

Chuffed to have gotten Holding.. A GREAT fast bowler for my team...

Got a decent chunk left too, I believe. The second time I have gotten the guy I wanted here. :) But for the mess up with Kapali (too bad I bid in round figures, must learn to play the "throw the change" game), I think I have a very good team so far.......

If nothing else your bowling attack will be well worth watching
yeah.. hoping for a good spinner and a seamer to complete the line up. :)

Marc, can you email me the budget left for me? I sent the last round bids from my cousin's home and can't access gmail from work here.. :(
