Oh, what a surprise, Napier is the top wicket-taker of the T20 competition. And oh, what a surprise, he's now the top T20 wicket taker worldwide. When the **** are we going to select him for England? Ridiculous he hasn't been playing.

The guy is a champ. He hit Guptill in the head with his first ball and had him out caught with his second. Also put a rather large dent in Anaru Kitchen's grill. Sent Bopara's stumps flying as well.

He's great. I've watched Essex a fair few times, and he always looks very good in the shorter forms of the game. I think those shorter stronger bowlers who also have a good bouncer are often good T20 bowlers.

How good are Essex at 20/20?

In other words, are we likely to have him at the CL?

Should also mention that I saw Howsie bowl on Saturday and he's pretty sharp, especially for someone who just ambles into the crease, haha. Is it true that you once snapped your femur upon delivery stride? Some guys in my team were telling me that, man that sounds horrific to say the very least
No mention of my fantastic four runs? :p

Nah yea I broke my femur just over two years back, wasn't the greatest feeling when it happened tbh haha and have never really been able to describe the pain when it happened. It does explain my amble to the crease and non-existent follow through I spose haha.

Must say I didn't enjoy bowling on that pitch of yours though, where's the bounce? :p Brooke's as chatty as heck in the field, comes out at three without a helmet, then starts taking strides down the wicket. I finally decide to bowl him a bouncer and it barely get's higher then his hip, yuck haha.

It sucks that Central don't have a decent spinner with the CL being played in India and all. They have the batsmen capable of getting them farer then what Otago managed, but they might struggle in India with that bowling attack.

George Worker to play as a frontline bowler

Is it definitely in India? I thought originally they said it was going to move round different countries.

Man thats such a insane injury must have been a ****in' tough rehabilitation too

You were looking good with the bat just when that guy gets his slower ball straight and full it is so hard to pick up and yeah the pitch is a shocker and it is extremely tough on visiting teams to come in and play on. It has taken us long enough to get used to it but seeing as we are finally used to it we have been able to turn it into something of a fortress. You should have seen the week before, one of our seamers bowled a ball that landed in his own half of the pitch and it hit the batsman plumb in front and was given out lbw:laugh: The only bounce you can ever get is that crazy tennis ball bounce, which is the only reason why your skipper got out to me instead of pulling me for six, lol. Yeah brooke is a **** most people know that haha but he's the sort of cricketer you'd rather have in your side that the opposition and yeah we know ya don't need a helmet on that wicket lmao

Instead of who sorry? Lol. Weston and Thompson will be tussling for that 11th spot, and don't think Worker's bowling form is good enough to warrant preference over them. I think Ross Taylor fancies himself a bit lol, haven't seen Jamie How bowl for a while either he used to be a useful offie

Ah, so that was you that opened the bowling. Pretty much when you get our captain early you take out half our runs haha.

I actually quite enjoyed batting on it tbh, it's definitely something different when you have spinners turning the ball as much as they were. Lucky Kit wasn't playing, he must clean up for you guys being a leggie and all.

Front foot players generally don't mind batting on there, a few have our guys have been out bowled trying to pull in previous matches though so everyone knows to stay forward.
Yeah he loves bowling on there, he doesn't actually pick up a huge amount of wickets on that deck though being a big turning leggie quite often the ball is just doing way too much. But yeah he's such a good leg-spinner that no batsman ever fully settles against him on any deck, and once he comes into the attack he always bowls unchanged until he bowls out usually picking up at least a couple of wickets in the process.

There is a SLA in the CD B side, Andrew Mason (currently injured). CD have seemed relucant to try any spinners this season since Schaw's departure, preffering the part time spin of Worker.

Think it might be time to go stealing tbh. ND don't seem to want to use Bruce Martin, or we could grab Mark Houghton.

Good news is we still have Diamanti and McClenaghan to return from injury, both good 20/20 bowlers. IF we can keep our hands on Napier then we have two genuine quicks, two left armers, three or four clever medium pacers and one fast medium to pick from. Plus most of the bowlers can bat.

CL is at the end of the year right? Could be enough time left in the season for some CD bowlers to do a Neesham and be bolters for the side, thinking of Wheeler and Small here. If they get a chance I hope they do well.

Full strength side will probably be (including Napier):

Ingram
How
Sinclair
Taylor
Weston
Oram
Napier
Thompson
Diamanti
Griggs
Mason

Tough on Noema-Barnett who batted well in the final and bowled useful medium pacers throughout, but I don't think he should be ahead of Thompson or Diamanti. CD selectors obviously disagree with me though :p. Likewise Seth Rance who looks to be lethal in the right conditions misses out along with McClenaghan. In the bowling attack I'd rather have the most experienced proven guys there. Someone is bound to get injured at some point so that will give these guys some opportunities.

Batting looks awesome though I am worried about How and Sinclair getting bogged down.

Lol apparently Ingram made a surprise visit to the Francis Douglas Memorial College vs Inglewood game. We (FDMC) were 8 down needing 20 odd to get first innings points and he came to the crease, whacked 20 odd not out then went to the 20/20 final:laugh:

I cant believe the rules allowed him to do that, awesome though. Get him back, would love another 50 over game double century. :p

thierry henry

International Coach
I missed the first innings so it seems very perplexing to me as to why Hira only bowled just the one over for a mere three runs, and Styris only bolwed three going at less than six whilst de Grandhomme bowled out:wacko:
Hopkins is a complete chump. His captaincy once again was ridiculous. I also have nfi what he thought he was achieving standing up to the stumps to the seamers, it just completely restricted their options and took the short ball out of the equation.

Honestly with his bowling selections it was like a schoolboy game where the coach gives the captain a bowling list before the game and he adheres to it no matter what. I reckon he just had it in his mind that only the faster bowlers could bowl in the last 6-8 overs and therefore didn't give Hira or Styris a bowl when they were clearly the most effective bowlers along with Tuffey.

Yah Wellington's a bit greedy with spinners, we need some sort of spinner draft to divide them up

Canterbury have got Jason Donnelly on their books but haven't been playing him, preferring old man Harris to send down off-cutters all day.
He'd be an option to headhunt. Maybe could coax Nick Beard with the prospect of being 1st choice spinner and more game time.
