Very unimpressed by Noema-Barnett here. One run off the over isn't ideal. Why's a guy who averages 9.9 with the bat coming in ahead of Oram?

Cruel to make Neesham bowl just as Taylor and Noema-Barnett were launching - 20 off your first over for Auckland is hardly the ideal confidence booster. Still a really impressive display from CD after it looked like they were loosing momentum midway through the innings. I bet Ravi Bopara won't be feeling brilliantly after dropping that difficult catch offered by Taylor early in his innings though.

I was wondering that too at that point - I did remember a one day game where he smashed 40 off about 20 balls coming in as a pinch hitter so obviously there was a reasonable strategy and it worked in the end, but he did look terribly average early in his innings.

Noema-Barnett is in top form, Oram's in **** form (with the bat). It made perfect sense for Noema-Barnett to come in first in my opinion.

Hopkins got it all wrong when Barnett and Taylor were going at it. Instead of coming up to the stumps he should of stayed back and allowed his bowlers to use what the pitch was offering.

Good call. Mason & Napier so far showing the benefit of using the pace of this wicket. Napier bowling superbly here.

Ah, I see why Hopkins was selected in the 20/20 team.

How quick is this wicket though? Is it just the light rain or is it actually the pitch, I haven't seen anything this quick in New Zealand before.

Nice innings from Jimmy, showing up some of the stars in the Auckland top order. So Long Jimmy by James Blunt as he was dismissed though?

Loved his coverdrive the ball before he got out, all along the carpet and it got there in less then a second.

 Champions League bound.

Taylor and Ingram were sensational. Credit where its due to Noema-Barnett as well. I'm not a fan and after that Tuffey over was baying for blood. He came back well though.

Hopkins captaincy was appalling. Agree with Howsie on the field settings. Bowling a batting allrounder debutant to Taylor was pretty cruel. Geez Jimmy can bat though, really nice batsman to watch. Congrats to him if he reads this. :)

Anaru Kitchen has a lot to work on against short pitched bowling. Talented player but even though the pitch was lightning quick (more like this one please) you shouldnt really get hit by Seth Rance. :p

Wish Napier was a kiwi though, was brilliant. Owned Guptill completely.

I thought Auckland were going to win before the game tbh, on paper they are a really strong side and we still insist on leaving out one of our best bowlers. Happy the result was the opposite.

Yeah Neesham looked right at home, especially given he came to the wicket in an extremely difficult situation. I missed the first innings so it seems very perplexing to me as to why Hira only bowled just the one over for a mere three runs, and Styris only bolwed three going at less than six whilst de Grandhomme bowled out:wacko:

Auckland bowled too full too often. My fave moment was when Napier steamed into bowl without the ball.
Seth Rance looked like he had a bald spot today, bit young to be thinning that much already

It was horrrrrrrrrible. I hope they field all the bowlers for the Bangas T20.
The guy is lodged between Southee and Butler on the batting average table this season FFS, such a poor selection.

I want to know what he has on the selectors.

Don't really like him batting above Kitchen and de Grandhomme either (or Neesham :p) but he's the captain so he can do what he wants I suppose. :p

Should also mention that I saw Howsie bowl on Saturday and he's pretty sharp, especially for someone who just ambles into the crease, haha. Is it true that you once snapped your femur upon delivery stride? Some guys in my team were telling me that, man that sounds horrific to say the very least
