*Official* English Football Season 2009-2010

Norwood's on Fire
10 mins to go, 1-1. Will take a point there. Charlton at home was the worst moment I've ever experienced as a white so it shows the difference under Parry if we can hold on/sneak a win. Big if, though.

We're still lacking quality finishing without Torres. Nice to see Riera and Babel with game time though. Not so much Ngaff and Lucas.

Gotta be happy with that, a last minute goal actually for us:mellow:

Hopefully onwards and upwards now:)

Lucas > Babel + Reira this season. Lucas has actually been quite good more often than not, but I prefer to see a more creative force (like Aqua) in there more often than not.

I love Liam Ridgewell btw!

Even then they had a fanbase out of all proportion to their success.
This is completely true, but he problem with saying this is that you can't have your cake and eat it, because the next thing everyone will claim is that all United fans are glory hunters. Make your minds up.

WRT Terry, normally I think private goings on should have little effect on the workplace, but the clear difference between this and other scandals is that he's had an affair with the wife/girlfriend of a bloke he is actually captaining. Ideally IMO he should be out the squad altogether but at the very least he should be stripped of the captaincy.

What are the odds on the ever so predictable Match of the Day commentary team saying something along the lines of "John Terry has silenced his critics with that goal" or some other gagging order related pun later on tonight?

Tbf Wayne Bridge is probably unlikely to feature for England at the World Cup, not that this makes the situation any better of course.

WTF, hate this bull**** so much. Who the hell cares what he does in his private life? Stupid middle aged women that have nothing better to do than read the News of the World, that's who. I'm not Terry's biggest fan, but I do feel sorry for him; what he did (or didn't) do has nothing to do with football, so it shouldn't really be brought up in a footballing context.

Haha indeed. As if scoring the winner away to Burnley will end all criticism of someone who ****ed his team-mate's missus.

Exactly. We like to think we're modern and secular, but the truth is England is by equal parts still prudish and prurient.

I think Terry's a massive twatt, but diddling a workmate's wife doesn't impact on his ability to play for or captain his team one iota. Does anyone seriously think that this is news to any of his England or Chav teammates? With the possible exception of the ****olded boob who's no longer the latter and barely the former nowadays either.

If anything this should be good for England - Bridge clearly can't be named in the squad as back-up left back so we actually end up with better cover!

Why?

Losing the respect of the people you are captaining does impair your ability to lead them successfully. Presumably Bridge does have friends in both dressing rooms and presumably Terry is going to be a bit unpopular in at least factions of both dressing rooms.

It's a bit different given he's captain compared to if he's just a regular player, if he was just a player I could see your point.

Being a massive **** impacts on how good a captain you are too, and that never cost him his job.

Really disagree with brumbers here. I'm as far from the moral majority you can get as well, wouldn't give a flying-**** if he screwed countless glamma girls in the bogs of Faces (which he probably does anyway), this was a team-mates missus, he's meant to be the Captain, FFS. Well he shouldn't be now, IMHO>

Doesn't help that he's slow as **** and will get exposed in the World Cup by top-class players, again.

All sports teams (in my experience) are pretty blokey places; there's a lot of talk about who's done what to whom and stuck what where. I've very little doubt that everyone already in the Chelsea first team squad knew about this way back when. Hasn't affected his performance nor the respect he commands.

A few might think he's a bit ****ish for doing it, but there's no suggestion it was anything other than consensual so some will probably reckon they'd have done the same had they the chance.

Because at the end of the day, he couldn't possibly be a bigger **** than the man who writes the paycheques.

Yes, I just typed out four stars.
