You obviously haven't had a look at our pool of centre-halves. We're so bereft that the 57 year old Sol Campbell has an outside chance of going to the world cup.

MacGill was a far more comparable replacement for Warne than Matthew Upson, Joleon "****ing" Lescott or Wes Brown is for Terry.

Plus it's fair small beer as scandals go; in the past decade we've had England squad members (allegedly) paying for underage girls to get abortions, shoving mobile phones up another squad member's arse, assaulting Asian students and using prostitutes old enough to be their mother.
More revolting is what the player/lawyer asked for yesterday.

Definately agree with this you should be able to look up to your captain as the guy who has got your back, not knocking off your misses as soon as your back is turned.

If it was up to me he would be out of the England team all together, I wouldn't want to play with a guy who has done the dirty on a teamate, which is the difference between this and the other scandels.
Agree with this totally, it clearly ain't the same, get rid of the over-rated lump. No problem with Upson, Cahill or Campbell playing ahead of him.

As someone who's old enough to remember the halcyon days of Man U being, if not shyte, then amusingly feckless & who grew up with a ManUre-following father I can confirm Cozza is right here. Everyone has always hated Man U, even under Fat Ron when the occasional FA Cup was the limit of their achievements. Even then they had a fanbase out of all proportion to their success. Liverpool used to win everything in the 80s, but at my (East Anglian) school there were just as many ManUre fans.

It's mainly the fans, it must be said. They're the non-football fan's football team.
Why was it that all these people supported United when they were also-rans? As we've said, they clearly weren't plastic glory-hunters because if they were they'd have been supporting Liverpool - so what was the appeal of United, and why were they so despised for supporting a club that wasn't winning?

I think, in England at least, they're kind of the "nation's" football team (possibly partly because of the sympathy generated by Munich) and, as such, have always attracted a lot of clueless (about football) fans. As example, my dad is one of four brothers, three of whom followed United. Only one (my Uncle Pete) went for a local option in Ipswich.

Hmm Brumby, quick Q then, if by the sounds of it your from Anglia way (explains so many posts, must be easier to type with that extra finger :p), how did the Arsenal support come about?

In other news, everyone should support their local team.....

Disagree, I realise it was probably tongue in cheek but I was in an Arsenal baby grow the day I was born. There's a picture of me aged 36 hours with an Arsenal shirt, sunglasses and a beanie hat on. I was an Arsenal fan from the day I was born, even if I didn't make that decision myself.

Don't care if you knew I was taking the ****, hook line and sinker, I had a catcher :p

TBH its the only way I can wade into arguments about Utd fans, its a damn hard one to argue back to. Though technically since I moved last year I should be supporting Altrincham....

In honesty, its a good enough reason to support a team 'My father would ****in kill me if i didnt'

Way exctied for the Prem tonight, even if the majority of it is on at the same time. Should be easy wins for Liverpool and Everton. Should be. :(

Not really. Considering the immense marketing drive by major clubs to be supported elsewhere in the world, let alone elsewhere in the country.

Apparently Utd considering a 2nd appeal against Rio's ban, hope to **** we've found a technicality, as it was pretty blatent. Only arguement is other players not been done the same (eg Masch, as shown on footie focus this mornin)

Don't quite follow. What I mean is when everyone is arguing about that, i'm so far detached from it I don't really get it. I just follow them because they are around the corner from where I grew up...

Different disciplinary panels make different decisions on different incidents. And Ferdinand doesn't have a leg to stand on as far as I can see, so we can't really complain about him getting punished.

What I would say is that if Ferdinand had got away with it while someone playing for Birmingham got punished it would set off wild rants about the Big Club Conspiracy all over the country.

I thought you were saying that "support where you're from only" was an argument that couldn't be refuted, though you used it tongue-in-cheek. Apologies. Tired.

Oedipus Complex, tbh.

Nah, just sheer chance. Latched on when I was about 6 or 7 and have stuck with them ever since. If the old man had been more diligent he'd have hammered ManUre into me.

Was worse for my Uncle Paddy. He was more of a hands-on football fan then the old man and used to take me along with him to games all the time. Trouble is he was a T*ttenham fan. Imagine his bosom must've swelled with pride to be dragging a junior Gooner along.

I've always had Cambridge United as my little "pat on the head" team and used to go to pretty much every home game at one stage, but I've always been of the opinion that once you pledge your troth to a team you stick with it.

Nah, you're just a glory hunter. Admit it!

Tbf the people who make these claims are the same people who ring into phone-ins to ask where the passion is every time something they mildly disapprove of happens. Or they're Matteh, but he's just trolling. Your logic is worthless here.

Hmm looks a bloody horrible set of fixtures.

Enough to make Saw III look appealing over Match of the Day.

I just basically used to use a bunch of descriptors and whatnot in relation to the CDMs, so someone suggested a set standard to save me typing it all out each time.
