You're either plastic tosser who supports them on some tenuous grounds or you absolutely hate their guts with no middle ground at all.
Quite skilfully trolled sir. A massive insult at a good proportion of the forum slipped casually into general conversation.

Can't really be a glory hunter if I had no idea the team was massively successful so not at me.
 Worst defence ever.

If this is true you're either clueless or not an actual supporter...of football. Even people who don't know "how many points a goal is" know that much about Man U.

Actually only really cared about international football until the start of the 03/04 season and before didn't care one bit about Englaish football.

'Twas Becks.

Can't help but feel that every Trinidadian knew Man Utd won things because of Dwight Yorke's involvement.

Lots of people became (and still are) Man U supporters because of Yorke. And yes, everyone who knew anything remotely related to football knew that Man U was ubersuccessful. I always supported Yorke (and Giggs and Solskjær) but could never bring myself to support Man U itself. I still love Giggs.

Many Villa supporters there as well?? The guy was a massive gun there and they won a League Cup back in the day which i'm pretty sure Yorke scored in the final of.

Not from Trinidad so don't see how it applies. Didn't care about his exploits either. You guys are not viewing this from a perspective of someone who only liked playing sports at the time and didn't watch much of it at all.

Was implying that it'd spread through the Caribbean because there weren't exactly many amazing players from that region on the world stage at the time.

Could've ended up supporting Chelsea because of Frank Sinclair or Derby because of Deon Burton....

Villa was slightly before my highly impressionable generation was old enough to be impressed upon.

And Xavier, even from a perspective of people who don't like sports at all, they knew about Man U. A reasonable argument would be that it didn't matter that they were successful, but to claim that you didn't know is extremely OTT.

The moment you even looked at the EPL you would have known surely. Maybe Becks was the first thought, but most successful club in England couldn't have been more than a split second behind.

I'd heard the name of course and that Beckham played for them but that was about it.

And success for one Caribbean national didn't translate across the region really back then as it was an individual in a team setting rather than someone doing a Federer or a team qualifying for a major tourney against the odds and factoring in that internet coverage then was scarce. Only in the last decade has there been a massive spread of internet usage across the country. Before I was in high school barely anyone I knew if at all even had a computer, so you can see why I wouldn't know about Yorke if it was reported in the news or in the papers which i barely read at that age.

Arsenal i don't mind, helps they were pretty average in the 90s.
Two titles, two FA Cups, a league cup & the Cup Winners Cup.

Happily take that kind of "pretty average".
Which is actually a bigger trophy haul than the Gunners managed to acquire in the 2000s, a fact that - given the relative hype surrounding Arsenal in this past decade - would surprise a lot of people.

I'm pretty sure this isn't true tbf.
It definitely is. It's harder for me to come up with evidence as I've always lived in Merseyside where they've obviously always been hated. Perhaps someone like grecian can add to it. Pretty sure he's commented on how he hated Man U through those barren years.
