Benitez has confirmed that Liverpool are in talks with Kenwyne Jones. No doubt a certain person on this site from Trinidad would be happy to see one of his countrymen play for Liverpool if the move happens.

In other news, Wayne Rooney's agent/s are trying to get Rooney a new five year contract with MU and in for the final two years of the contract to hit a staggering £200,000 per week! No player in any sport is really worth that sort of money, but if clubs are willing to pay their players that sort of money, then they would be stupid not to take it.

Unfortunately I don't think Rafa is good enough to stop Kenwyne from being a lazy git. So much talent, so little consistency. :(

That said, I'd love to see him given a chance, with some decent service, at a club like Liverpool.

^ Sunderland were tracking him I believe. Undergone surgery and his life is in the balance. Very sad.

EDIT: Just read he's in critical, but stable condition.

I think Kenwyne's brilliant. One of the best target men around, absolute machine.

But he's always injured. That can't be good.

SSN reporting as we speak that Fulham have accepted a bid from United for Smalling.

Sky Sports | Football | Transfer Centre | Speculation | United make Smalling move
Arsene's latest quotes:

"It just looks like United offered more money than us, but as long as the player has not signed anywhere it is not the end of it.

"Let's see what happens there.

"We will not come out on what we are doing exactly. It has come out [elsewhere], but that does not mean it is true.

"If we have anything more to tell you we will let you know."

This one has legs imo. Would love the signing as he's geuniunely talented backup for Vermaelen and Gallas for a season or two and he could learn rapidly with the likes of Sol and Willy at the club. not like Wenger to be this candid regarding a transfer. Apparently he wants to stay in London while Woy and Arsene are both friends so if we get the money right we hold more aces in this one. Fingers crossed for another Ramsey type outcome.

I rate him very highly, and I think a lot of people under-rate him because they don't consider the intangible things he does for Sunderland. He doesn't fire in goals, but he does so many good things in attack and defence, and gets others involved. However, I think he's lazy because he should be getting more out of his talent by now, and he just doesn't seem to be up for it sometimes.

One of the best moments of the season for me, though, was when he pinged a beautiful delivery onto the head of Darrent Bent (who scored obviously) from deep on the right wing. Was a gorgeous sight.

And I'm blaming his injury problems on David James.

But -

a) If he scores, he might take his shirt off again, mmm.

and

b) He's Irish, and has been sinned against by Henry.
