Roach in a bidding war between Deccan & Chennai. New Ishant Sharma? (i.e. a good bowler who suddenly attracts IPL interest because he sent an awesome spell to Ricky Ponting).

Does Chennai really need foreign players? I thought they had enough guys in Hussey, Fred, Haydos and Murali. All these players are more or less certainties for all the matches. So a 5th foreign guy won't make much of sense for a no holds barred bidding.

Still don't understand the high bidding on Parnell. Trying to get the support of the South Africans from last year's IPL?

Injuries, form and old ****s. You need options incase Plan A goes soft. Ntini not the player he once was. Thurshara, Oram are coming back from injuries. Flintoff out. Morkel and Murali are out of form. We need another fast bowling option.

They need a quality bowler... their bowling is not very good. They had Balaji opening last season.

Seems that definitely the best scenario for the bidding is to wait until a couple of other teams max out and then you can pick up 2/3 decent players for your $750000. It's not as if there's a shortage of good players.

From Cricinfo:

Modi is telling the press that the tie-breaker sums will not be disclosed. Only he and the winning franchisee is privy to it.

That is dire. How come then the other franchise make sure it was not a case of in your face bribery? Atleast the competing franchise should also know the winning bid and "ensure" that amount was actually paid.
