Haha, loving this - and cricinfo's headline. Eat that Sehwag.

Like Gilly's knock vs. Bangaldesh, it'd be quite unfair to remove this knock by Sachin when looking at stats.

On another note, Yuvraj - you beauty. I hope selectors have their eyes open.
Better to hope that they dont IMO

With their eyes open, all they "see" is his popularity and mistake that for someone deserving a permanent spot

It's a real shame as when I first saw him in the CT years ago he looked a remarkable talent

I think all they see is ODI knocks and mistake that for cricketing ability.

Just caught a bit of the highlights on the news. The fast bowler who got all those wickets sure has one foul mouth. He makes Brad Williams look like Mother Teresa. There's still 2 more innings to go in the series. I don't think Rahul Dravid is going to take it lightly being repeatedly accused of having an incestuous relationship with his mum.

Haha yea, they are fired up by the sound of it.

Just saw the score card 5 minutes back. Great to see India struggling here. I hope Bangladesh take 20 test wickets and embarass India after Sehwag's comments.
Yup, the only thing better would've been Sehwag out for a duck. I also love that Tenduklar, the classiest of guys, is out there with his head held high.

Wasn't able to watch the game but man it's going to be seriously embarassing if we end up losing to BD the first test after we become no.1. That said it's good to see a fighting performance from them and I agree that Sehwag's comments were pathetic. It's one thing trashtalking at a strong team but to go after a weak team is beyond the pale.

I think people dont know a lot about Sehwag and thats why he is being labeled as arrogant. He is basically a 'Jat'. For people who dont know: Jats are an ethnic group of people living in and around Punjab(Check - Jat people - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia). Coming back to my point- Jats are very straight forward people with NO diplomatic skills. They are mostly on the face and usually lack communication skills. That is the reason why Sehwag said what he said. He was just speaking what he thought. He is not someone who would say - "Well yes they are a competitive side and can beat any team on their day" and stuff..
He just cant play with words

Another good reason for England not to rest players for the coming series, then.
Yeah they have done this to South Africa, New Zealand and India now, obviously so far they have failed to take advantage but England without Strauss and Collingwood are surley bound to repeat the pattern.

absolutely! is there any doubt? it was a zimbabwe club side for sure...don't remember if taibu was playing, if he was he was probably the only one remotely approaching international quality...those "wins" are incredibly overhyped...none of them were meaningful wins in the context of test cricket...
Of course there is doubt. A Test Country picked eleven players to represent the country and lost by heaps due to a wonderful performance by Team Bangladesh.

Taibu played, Taylor played, 9 other players from Zimbabwe were trying to do their nation proud, but ultimately they were not good enough, so Bangladesh won the Test match.

Also, the win wasn't overhyped, no one is seriously suggesting it as the best win in Test Cricket, but it's a win and certainly one of Bangladesh's top 3 Test wins of all time. :)

Shakib al Hasan proved once again why he is the right man for the job and one of the most intelligent cricketers and captains around. Anyone with less intelligence would not have resisted making a cheap shot at Sehwag after his statement..but Shakib made no reference to him..instead focusing on his team's cricket, the job that lies ahead and not for one second going over the top with his praise for his bowlers who werent all that great.

If he can keep his focus and get his team to focus...they can really put up a good show. I wont go as far as a win yet because I have seen them do this against Pakistan, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa and then throw it all away. But lets see..

Big morning for Bangladesh, they can't let that dropped catch/missed opportunity on Sachin late in the day cost too much!

Indian fans shouldn't be all that alarmed yet, Bangladesh often struggle against decent bowling to reach India's current score and India rarely fail in both innings of a Test.

Bangladesh have probably never had a better top 8 in a match before though.

I would love it If Bangladeshis beat India. That is the only way we can get them to come to India and play tests.

i don't even want to respond to the platitudes(bolded above):)...the brutal reality is that their win came against severely depleted zimbabwe and west indian sides masquerading as national teams...and the fact that they would have lost against a close to full-strength team from either side....

You sound so patronising. Please never speak this way of Ireland if the only tests they win in 60-odd attempts are against such embarrassing sides. It'll be humiliating.

In better news, look what I stumbled across:

WAG. The date in question is Matthew Hoggard's last test, ftr.
