*Official* India in Bangladesh

Haha no one is saying we've lost or anything, but still pretty poor performance.

To be honest better your Karthik and Yuvraj fail then our bowlers though. If we're bundles for 250 but we bowl them out for less I'll be happier than if we made 450 and Banglas made 350.
Shakib is planning on Bangladesh making 700 runs this Test over 2 innings. In Shakib we trust!

This is so embarassing - I just knew that our recent performances and reaching number one in the Test rankings was too good to be true.

How's it really that embarrasing? The team is only 7 down and made over 200 runs, it's still the first day against a suspect batting lineup, India is still a chance of a win here.

India has just been outdone by the best bowler on either side Shakib and a young quick who has had one of his good days.

Whatever it takes!!!

and by over confidence, I should add... Better to get such a day now itself so that we can regroup than later on against a better side. India and esp. Sehwag better learn not to under rate people and opposition from now... :@

Yes, I'm aware that we're likely still the favourites and it is only Day 1, but a number one Test batting line up should not be rolled over for next to nothing by Bangladesh.

With Harbhajan absent, I'd probably agree that Shakib is the best bowler on each side, but I do not think that our line up is fragile enough to justify crumbling to Shahadat.

Zaheer out, WTF.

You can't say India have underrated Bangladesh. You're going on Sehwag's words, who I doubt represents the team's view.

61.6 Shahadat Hossain to Tendulkar, no run, comedy of errors, short on the off, goes for the pull, gets a top edge and there are three fielders converging but all hesitant waiting for the other guy to make a call, none took the ultimate step and it lands in front of all of them, Shahdat is distraught, Tendulkar can't believe his luck

Oh oh.

So...any thoughts on what a post-Sachin (and Dravid/Laxman) India's going to be like? The man has pretty much stood between them and an insipid showing against an 'ordinary' side (to quote the great Sehwag).

Im sure they'll be exactly the same as now - usually great, sometimes crap.

Inappropriate time to launch such a criticism - new debutants with more than an ounce of hunger for runs and to secure their spot would likely have faired better than Dravid and Laxman did, today. To note that we have been reliant on Tendulkar today would be to undermine the obvious failure of Dravid and Laxman.

Indeed, certainly does not help that we are missing MS Dhoni and Harbhajan Singh who often score key runs at number seven and eight respectively (one, somewhat more than the other, of course).

I doubt this, somehow - it'd be like saying that Australia would be exactly the same sans McGrath and Gillespie.

But Manee's right, hungry debutants probably would've scored more runs due to an eagerness to impress. But looking at the longer-term, it seems unlikely (though not impossible) that India will have a batting lineup this formidable again. Sachin also provides value beyond his batting. He is a talisman and can inspire younger teammates to do feats that they thought were beyond them. Sans Sachin, it is hard not to look at the Indian team with trepidation. Today is such an example.

Very happy that Bangladesh is showing real signs of improvement.

Will have to wait until after their first innings to make a full judgment, though.
