**Official** West Indies domestic season 2010

From all reports Trinidad and Tobago batted atrociously.
When you only pick three specialist batsmen and one of them averages 20, you're asking for it. Did they just not have any other batsmen available who were better than Emrit or what? When you're the seventh bowler used in the first innings as a seamer and you bat eight, you're not being given too great a role...

Well both Bravos, Barath and Pollard are out. However, it was inexcusable to pick Emrit ahead of Jason Mohammed. Especially since Emrit has the virus, from reports.

Ryan Hinds takes a five-fer against the Leewards....
This match could have an interesting finish.

Jamaica are 58-4 chasing a target of 98 against the Windwards.

Still no play in the trinidad-CCC match yet....

No idea what to make of players form in West Indies Domestic Cricket. If Ryan Hinds can take a five-for...

Simple - they can't play spin!
Jamaica win their match against Windwards by six wickets....

CCC declare, and set Trinidad a target of 276 in two sessions and a bit.

Barbados lose two wickets before lunch on the final day of their match agaisnt the Leewards....

Yes players from Barbados, Leeward and Windward Islands are awful at playing spin, that is a well known fact.

But another reason spinners take wickets in our regional cricket is the standard of umpiring, which is absolutely atrocious. I have seen better umpires in UK club cricket then the likes of Umpire Bullen and Chang. They give players out immediately if a spinner strikes the pads (see Simmons and Fletcher in the latest round of matches).

We all have a go at the standard of cricket in our 4 day competition, and rightly so, but it would be a hell of a lot better if the pitches were half decent and the match officials were up to standard.

T&T all out for 124. Kantasingh with 12 wickets for the match.

Barbados 149/7 chasing 224 and Brooks the only specialist bat left still there.

Can you tell me a bit about Imran Khan? I know West Indies is a bit of a paradise for spinners at the moment but his record thus far (admitedly not many games) is terrific and he seems pretty useful with the bat, notice that he has oppened before. Is he ever mentioned as an international prospect?

Haven't seen him bowl or bat that I recall. I'd say he's way back in the prospective spinners right now though. Not least because God loves Benn.

It was arrogance on the part of trinidad to bat Sherwin Ganga at four, when William Perkins could've occupied that spot. For some strange reason, they're ignoring Perkins and other established Trini batsmen.

Bowlers are dominating the stats at the end of the first round....

Tall left-arm spinner Trinidadian Kavesh Kantasingh of the CCC leads the bowling stakes with 12 wickets at the miserly average of just seven!

He's followed by:

Nikita Miller of Jamaica, another left-arm spinner, with nine wickets @ 11

Left-arm "spinner" Ryan Hinds of Barbados with eight wickets @ 15

Veteran left-arm seamer Pedro Collins with six wickets @ 11

No batsmen made a century, but the leading run-scorers so far are....

Bajan Omar Phillips, who batted so well for the CCC to get 158 runs

Veteran Windwards allrounder Rawl Lewis, who couldn't be dismissed by Jamaican bowlers, with 145 runs

Runako Morton of the Leewards, with 119 runs

Jamaican veteran Wavell Hinds, with 109 runs

Jamaican and WI stalward Brendan Nash, with 84 runs

Could be injured. Can't remember if he participated in the trial matches, and he was involved with the team just a couple of months ago, so I'm fairly certain he's not been mindlessly blacklisted. 8-)

Interested to hear who these other established batsmen are though. Do tell.

Surely, Trinidad have batsmen who are accustomed to batting at four and five....

I just don't see the point of Sherwin Ganga batting at four, and Denesh Ramdin at five. No wonder Trinidad collapsed like that!

Off the top of my head, I would say it would've been better to try William Perkins, Jason Mohammed, Daron Cruickshank, for starters....

At lunch on the first day, the scores in two of the matches were:

CCC go into lunch in a comfortable position....

LUNCH: CCC are 67/2. Necoli Parris is on 27 and Romel Currency on 3. Pedro Collins and Nicolai Charles are the wicket-takers for Barbados. An even session one would have to say, or perhaps Barabdos are a shade ahead having dislodged both openers but the way they bowled they could be disappointed at not having another 2 down and CCC would be happy not to be 4 down after heaps of plays and misses and close-call raps on the pads. Parris has hung in there and played some terific shots while Currency is not looking comfortable but is in still. Jackson was playing well until he misjudged Charles and perished.

LUNCH ON DAY 1 - Leewards 66/4.
29ov [ . . . . . . ] 66/4. Morton 41*, Banks 2*. Miller completes his 2nd Maiden.

Simmons becomes the first man to score a ton this season....
:)
Interestingly, Jason Mohammed has been called up, and he's batting better than Sherwin Ganga did at four!
