He has looked full of potential every time i've seen him which has been in the IPL & a few ODIs for AUS & the recent Champions League. Clearly not the finished article yet though.
Really is 16 off 10 and 1/32 off 3 overs consistently going to help anyone?

Noble One

International Vice-Captain
Nannes is back tonight, bowled really well. Combination of what makes him a good bowler, decent pace, mixing his deliveries up, and not bowling the ball all over the place. Good move to keep him in the side, must admit I thought he should be dropped.

Competetive total to be set by WA, this pitch is pretty slow and not good for strokemakers.

Well of course not. Haven't seen him in the current domestic T20 competition for obvious reasons, but ATM he is shoe in in T20 WC squad for me.

But alot here seem to speaking well of this Christian fellow, so i'm taking note..

How is he a shoe in? Maybe if we take a squad for 36 he might make it.

Haa na man. ATM i'd have him as the back-up pace bowling/allorunder to Watson in the squad of 15.

Marsh
Watson
Clarke
White
Haddin
D Hussey
M Hussey
Johnson
Haurtiz
Lee
Nannes

Tait
Bollinger
Warner
Henriques or Christian

In a perfect world of course for most people Clarke wouldn't be near to this team. Since others batsman like Smith/Birt/Voges & even Hodge (although they are highly unlikely to pick him) deserve a place ahead of him.

Pretty amazing that Christian is being spoken of at all, tbh. Think I've said it before but he came to SA as a top-order batter who bowled handy meds. Now he's a front-liner (one of the most consistently threatening in SS cricket this year for SA) bowling a decent clip, swinging the ball miles and lower-order hitter. Surely has the sweetest technique for a number 8 around!

Get the feeling his batting is starting to fire again and we might see some 4-day runs from him. Would be awesome for SA to have a genuine all-rounder, first in a ****ing long time.

Hopes would have to be in front of him for it, selectors may have messed around picking a few guys like him for a waste of time One Day series when we had a stack of injuries but I can't see Henriques making the final cut.

Yeah he's always bowled like this though. If you asked anyone around the Sydney First Grade setup they wouldn't be surprised at all by this development; I don't think he's really improved his bowling skill-set that much - he's just been given a go by a management who actually recognises his bowling ability. He's always had it.

Yeah think SACA recognised it too but he was, from what I remember, brought over as a batter first and foremost. Was batting top-6 for SA and not bowling at all initially in 4-day cricket, only bowling in the LO's. Think Sorrel recognises the type better than most since he was a similar sort of player for Southerns. I do think, however, he's added a yard or two since being in SA.

Now don't you go slagging off the great man, Joe Scuderi.

Yeah, I'm not saying he was signed up to be a bowling allrounder; more that he's always had this sort of bowling ability in him and once he got over to South Australia and the management had a good look at him, they took advantage of what NSW were just flat-out ignoring.

He's always been capable of bowling into the early 140s on his day, but not consistently - he was always very much known as a rhythm bowler. He's doing it a lot more consistently since he got over there but I think that could be a byproduct of bowling more and people actually encouraging him to work on it.

Would never, ever, slag off Scuds. But he did last play for SA, what, 10 years ago? So yeah, it's been a long wait and SA had to import their next great all-rounder!

Is, as you've put it before, a ripping man. A better player than his record suggests too, was in the prelim squad for the '92 WC. Had the best mullet in the SA team.

Right, didn't know that. Nice that SA developed a player and have kept him instead of doing something like helping Harris put on 20Km/h and then shafting him.

Played a bit of cricket for Italy as well, WAG.
