The two players you mention Cook and Bell have both shown excellent character resurrecting their fortunes with a few gutsy knocks. I agree that Bell played a decent knock at the Oval too, and it seems currently England have got the balance of the team spot on with the 4-man attack.Bell played a decent pressure knock at The Oval I thought as well. Think he's topping the averages for the series now, without checking, he's there or thereabouts anyhow. Fair play to him, obviously it would have been nice to see him stay there until the end today but that aside we couldn't have asked too much more from him.
Thinking about the averages, it was when he was not out that his was the highest, but anyway, it's nice to see the way he and Cook have responded to their places being under threat. Indicative of our team spirit as a whole really, we generally bounce back from disappointment with a belter of a performance.
Moving forwards I can't see anything other than an unchanged team next time out. Five bowlers is highly unlikely given that we only need to draw, I believe that we will win the Test and with it the series. It's stressful but really, it's quite a bit of fun being an England fan of late.
Fun being an England fan ? So far yes as the games going down to the wire are favouring us at the moment, the heartache had Onions been dismissed at Centurion or Cape Town would have been awful.
I've been thinking ahead to the Bangladesh tour and mulling over any changes I'd make, and I certainly would change the squad around. Should we win this series, I'm aware that it's vital we keep the momentum going, and would probably field half of the side that have featured in this series so far. It really is an ideal time for a few to enjoy a rest, a handful to continue building on recent success and an opportunity for a number of fringe players to taste international cricket. Sorry for going off topic a little, just thought I'd mention it.
