Let them tamper with it. Like Donald said a while back, batsmen walk into a batsman's game with prepared bats, with further freedom to tamper to get better use out of them. Why can't the ICC man up and let bowlers bring their own balls(, so to speak)?
Yeah peel the damn leather out, allow them to bowl with the cork.

Ian Botham was telling on TB KP walked upto Anderson's and said "you have been caught buddy, we have seen on television"

For my money I can only think of about two or three series where KP has failed to score a ton. India away 06, Strauss tonned up in Mumbai. Ashes 09, Strauss tonned up Lord's
In India 2006
In Sri Lanka 2007 (No fifties even)
West Indies in Eng 2009
The Ashes 2009
Ongoing series against SA

No idea what AB was trying to achieve with his comments to the press this evening though.
Oh, I think we know exactly what he was trying to achieve.

He's not daft, he must know the reaction there would be. And also that these things should be done through the proper channels with the referee, why complain to the press like that and yet not even do the appeal that they were entitled to?
See Brumby's comments about Broad supposedly scuffing one side of the ball with his foot. AB knows it's crap, so there's no point in making an official complaint. Easier by far to whine to the press and let them make a fuss on your behalf.

As has been noted earlier on these pages, one side is pulling well clear in the most-whinges-in-a-series stakes. All very unedifying.

Anyone have a video link (that we in Australia could see) of the Broad incident? Haven't seen it yet, and can't seem to find anything on youtube.

Personally, I thought that the Broad incident was overblown, but I saw a clip on the TV news of Anderson using his fingernail to scratch the leather of the ball....

Now, that's ball tampering in my book, and as AB says, a piece of leather came off, and the ball was reverse swinging.

Funny, but Darrell Hair didn't need the opposing team to file an official complaint when he took action against Pakistan in that Oval Test....

Yeah, but he was roundly criticised and ultimately sacked. It's not like Hair's actions were given the thumbs up.

Goodness me, but with the way the South Africans have been carrying on this series it makes me so want us to win it.

10.20am Good morning and welcome, we have another England rearguard on our hands so, depending on where your loyalties rest, make the appropriate prayers and prepare for a clammy-palmed day. For England fans, no, there is absolutely no rain. The pitch, however, is still remorselessly flat, so grab on to that straw if you like. South Africa should have this game wrapped up by around tea, but you just never know. Also for those who don't care much for history, if England bat 90 overs today, they won't be all that far from 466.
Is that so? Heh.

Jimmeh said to be so distraught over these pictures he's gonna impose a 2 match test ban on himself, effective immediately after the conclusion of the current series.

Forgot Sri Lanka completely and wasn't sure on the Windies. This series hasn't finished yet.

Strauss never passed 50 in the Windies home series, so this wouldn't be the first time anyhow

In a roundabout way, that's my point....

1) If posters feel that Hair was right in the action he took against Pakistan, then surely they'll feel similar action should've been taken here.

2) If posters feel Hair was wrong, and that he was rightly criticised, then no action should probably be taken here.

How can they say the pitch is remorselessly flat and yet think it should be over at tea. There are quite some batsmen to come who can tough things out.

Don't get me wrong, this match, imo, is South Africa's to lose. They should pull it off. However, I do not exclude a great 5th day! If no wickets fall (or only Anderson's for that matter) before lunch, I'm off to my favourite (and, tbh, the only one in The Hague) cricket pub.
