*Official* England in South Africa

I'd be more concerned with the poor over rate maintained by England (10 overs in the hour before lunch is atrocious) rather than the hard done by quick bowlers trying to level the playing field somewhat.

Just saw the alleged tampering incidents. Broad's is a total beat up; if he's good enough to trap a moving cricket ball on the non-shiny side every time he's in the wrong sport.

Jimmeh's tho...hmm. Well, it doesn't look great, tbh. Picking at the leather if not the seam.
Could you tell me where I could look them up?

Adrian Durham's talk of Arse wanting the match called off tonight because they're foreign ponces was enough to make me turn off before Goughies words of wisdom, TBH.
The hypocrites. **** Durham and idiot Gough (Aaron Lennon is better footballer than Messi) were spouting such bollocks from the comfort of their homes; as neither could make it to Talksport towers due to a few inches of snow.

Thanks for that. I think that bowlers should be able to pick the leather off the ball and should maybe only be restricted in prohibition of bringing on foreign objects and picking the seam. However, that being said, Anderson should a clear distain for the rules and needs a suitable punishment for it. Bob Willis raised a good point that there would have been action if this were coming from any other Test nation and so England should be no exception.

 willis ripping into Harper. He's just called him a joker.
Oh, damn, wish I'd seen that. I  Bob Willis. Almost as much as I  Boycs.
Credit to Bob, he picked Harper as a joke, quite early on, and he was right to do so. He really makes for brilliant television and I can't help but think that he is wasted when restricted to just 15 minutes at the end of highlights, at least give the man a half hour.

And then followed up with complete nincompoop! Quality!!!
Loved the confidence with which he said nincompoop, despite the word not being used on TV since I can rememeber - Thorpe's reaction of vaguely controlled laughter was similarly priceless, itbt.

Williiis is magnificent in his role as curmudgeonly summariser, makes me want to kill myself when he's live in the box, but he's really found his role now at SKY:)

That's a bit naive of Jimmy. I saw Watto go up and ask the umpires to watch him when he was going to touch the ball a couple of times in the Aus-Pak test, presumably there was some dirt or something, that seems much the more sensible thing to do. Especially since things always look worse in slow-mo and zoomed in.
Yeah a bit naive. Nothing much more to it though. Broad stepping on the ball is potentially worse but neither was particularly egregious. Neither is in the "dirt in the pocket" class, let alone some of the full-on cheating cases that we've witnessed over the years.

Thought it would be worse than that. Cleaned the seam, got some crap off the ball which is fine and pulled a loose flap hanging. Cant bowl with a piece of leather flapping about.

Should have done it in front of the umpire ideally but cleaning the seam is fine. However, umpire should have cut the flap himself.

Yeah, seems that way to me.

No idea what AB was trying to achieve with his comments to the press this evening though. He's not daft, he must know the reaction there would be. And also that these things should be done through the proper channels with the referee, why complain to the press like that and yet not even do the appeal that they were entitled to?

Jimmeh said to be so distraught over these pictures he's gonna impose a 2 match test ban on himself, effective immediately after the conclusion of the current series.
