Im looking forward to seeing David Sales back after missing last year through injury.
Yes will be a big season for Sales, although any international honours may now be beyond him. No doubt any county would miss a player of his calibre, so Northants will welcome him back with open arms next season.

Its imperitive he has a nice full season injury free, where he is amongst the wickets. Very much a key part of the future of ENGs pace attack, behind Anderson/Onions/Broad & a uncertain Sidebottom with the Ashes coming up..
At 28 there's certainly time for Tremlett to enhance his international prospects, but as you say, he needs a full injury-free season to prove that he has the ability and consistency.

At his best, very much like Morne Morkel, he can be lethal, but needs a big haul this season to give himself a chance to tour Australia.

Yea since the fact that we had to call up Davies to SA shows how bare the stocks is. Need Tremlett bowling well this season..

Needles anti-Davies comment.

Have almost given up on Tremlett to be honest, I love him but would be pleasantly surprised if he managed a good season this year, really hope I am wrong though.

Nothing anti-davies about it. Its pretty clear out bowling stocks behind the Anderson/Onions/Broad is very thin/gash & the fact we had called up a county trundler instead of promising young fast bowler to SA pretty much proves that.

For England sake he needs to..

What makes you so certain that Tremlett > Davies? The three OD games you've watched Davies play in 7 years ago?

Tremlett's 3 tests vs IND 07, doesn't get more conclusive than that..

Plus no i've seen Davies bowl up to this year in one of those FC games that was televised on sky.

He was far better than Davies in 07 & once fit bowling well in the coming season he will be better than Davies this year, as a bowler than can dismiss international batsmen.

Haa really fellas is so hard to just say Davies is trash..

It is when you have absolutely no basis for saying so.
Ha he is not internatial quality, theirfore he is trash. Him being considered as back-up option to our main pace trio for the SA tour clearly also highlights our poor depth in the pace-bowling ranks, which yourself recently acknowledged

I am really enjoying this series and if we win it will be two great victories in a row but we do have to remember that just last year we were losing in the West Indies and that our strength in depth is probably not all that great. We need to make sure that we beat Bangladesh and to do so with certainty I think we need a fairly strong side. I don't think I would give any of the batsmen a rest (would give Strauss and maybe Collingwood a rest for ODI's though) as I can see good reasons for them all to play. We will need Swann so he has to go so the only two I would consider not taking would be Anderson and maybe Broad
Unless you dont believe Davies is part of our "not all that great depth"..

Davies is not proven at international level one way or the other. All we do know is that his first class record is superior to all of his contemporise.

Even if he is interntational class then that does not make him 'trash' there are plenty of fine county bowlers out there that were never quite international class, that does not make them 'trash'

Of course you know all this already so there is really no point in discussing it.

Hampshire have signed Shahid Afridi for next summer's Twenty20, part of me wanted Warne for one last time but as a performer in this format you don't really get much better than Afridi. Looking forward to him and Mendis bowling in tandem.

Medium pacers like Davies have not had success in test cricket since the days of Alec Bedser. So i could care less how the likes of Davies, Jon Lewis do in FC cricket, they would never be internaitonal quality, so yes they are trash AFAIC.

The most recent example of a medium pacer like Davies playing playing tests was Gavin Larsen & he wasn't anywhere near test quality.
