Smith has taken a back seat these past 30 minutes. I want Amla to get out in an hilarious manner so we can see some fat boy partnerships.
England players were calling Smith Ranatunga at Kingsmead but he seems to have lost a lot of weight from last year. Kallis also seems to have lost some weight as well, only sporting two chins now but the England players don't speak when Kallis (or Boucher) bat.

I seriously don't understand how so many people rate Smith so poorly. He has this ability to make big hundreds just when they're needed. Sure, he doesn't succeed every test, but who does?

Exactly. Although KP is an exceptional batsman, I've seen more important scores from Smith, than KP - especially of late.

I guess Smith's form hasn't been great of late, but he has the responsibility of opening & captaining his side. I really rate Smith, I don't get how so many people are so critical of him.

Hasn't got the critics he had of past but there are still a few idiots out there...

Clive Rice - "What has he actually achieved as captain?. For me, he is too one-dimensional as captain and he shows no enterprising spirit."

Smith is too one-dimensional as captain: Rice

Historic wins in Australia and England, leading from the front in both series yet he hasn't achieved anything nor does he have enterprising spirit. Team rarely ever performs if Smith doesn't contribute and when he does, they have never lost.

They are complaining about "throwing the ball on the bounce to the wicketkeeper by various fielders"? That's hardly ball-tampering, is it? The whole thing sounds like silly "mind-games" BS which will probably end up backfiring on them.

No, I said that didn't help. Broad stepped, apparently firmly, on the ball with his spiked boots. If it wasn't ball tampering, then it was a really stupid way to treat the new ball.

Don't think this thread needs to be hijacked by this though.

The throwing of hte ball on the bounce is pretty common, as is kicking the ball around. Hell Gayle played soccer with the ball earlier this summer in Australia!

However if Broad actually stood on the ball, which is what is being alleged, then that's not exactly going to go down well.
