I don't see the point of a Giant Stadium TV tbh
TBH, I see the use in American football where there is so much going on with 22 players doing their own thing on each play. American football is perfect for TV with replay and the screen brings the benefits of TV to the crowd. Less important for other sports where the focus is on one or two players in a small area of the field. Cowboy stadium is also a folly built to massage the ego of the owner.

Though this topic was originally about baseball and cricket stadiums and seems to have moved onto others. May as well compare Wembley to the Oakland Coliseum.

The New Yankee stadium is amazing too.
One of the important things about stadium experience is that people go. The New Yankee stadium is having problems selling tickets because of the costs incurred. Surely it defeats he main purpose of a stadium. There needs to be a balance between accessibility and facilities.

Interesting that an American would naturally see a sports stadium in material terms, whereas I'd much rather spend a day at Lord's or one of the older football stadia (love our wooden stands, however restricted the views might get, at Goodison). I'd hate there to be outstanding shops or restaurants or bars at a sports game - the whole point in going is to watch the action and support your team (especially re. football). Any distraction from that cheapens the experience for me.

It's as much the fans you're sat around than the facilities that make an atmosphere. The Emirates being a point in view - structurally possibly the best stadium in the country, but almost universallly derided.

The location of a stadium is vital as well for me, hate them when they are industrial parks like a lot of the modern football stadiums are, cannot beak the location of Griffin Park with four pubs on every corner but all my favourite grounds including Lords are situated in the city, is my only real probelm with the Rose Bowl although its surroundings are an awful lot nicer than most modern stadiums.

Yeah I agree it's a fantastic stadium.

Yeah the best seats are so expensive, but I think the Yankees still get big crowds for it's 80-90 matches each season. The match I watched was on a Tuesday night and the crowd was 42 000. Fantastic stadium, even watching the match from the bleachers!

Yeah location helps, it's one reason why I love watching sport at Lang Park/Suncorp Stadium in Brisbane. It's a 10 minute walk from the city and not a bad seat in the house.

The best stadiums I have watched sport at:
- Suncorp Stadium, Brisbane
- Lords, London
- Murrayfield, Scotland.
- Anfield, Liverpool so close to the action, and awesome atmosphere.
- Yankee Stadium, The Bronx.

Unfortunately White Hart Lane didn't make my list, stupid poles. I've never watched any sport in Sydney and never been to Melbourne, before anyone says what about the MCG!

Why would you care if a ground had restaurants and pubs? Aren't you there to watch the game...

Yes, but you can make a day of it. It becomes an entertainment destination, rather than a couple of uncomfortable seats to sit in for a few hours. It's a better environment to bring the family, enjoy the day, the game, do activities, have some dinner, etc. And it still offers an unparalleled experience for guys who are there just for the game, like us.

Yeah that Denver stadium looks sweet as. Not sure why people would deny that. It's not as if big screens don't exist at other cricket grounds. They hardly spoil the ground or the sport.

Imagine Ponting's blood dripping down onto the pitch after that series in England, or Sreesanth's sweet tears dropping after being slapped on a 80 yard wide HDTV. Cricket nirvana.
