*Official* England in South Africa

TBH if this game had been played in the 90s all of the batsmen would have scored 6 and all the bowlers would have taken 14 wickets

MOTM?

Cook, Bell, Swann?
If you defeat your opponent with an innings and about 100 runs, in hindsight, you can conclude that either batsman's contribution was not a match winning innings.

Swann rightfully the MotM!

If there is one thing England should be bothered about, it is their team balance. This Test did not teach them it was ok or not....

Swann ranked 3rd in the bowling rankings, Broad 7th. And they are 3rd and 4th in the all-rounder rankings, respectively. They are champs both of them.

Cricketer Of The Year
The second match winning Broad spell I've missed this year :( .

Well, my planning for the day is messed up. I didn't bother to watch after lunch yesterday, as I expected the Saffies to lose 2 or 3 wickets on what I thought was quite flat pitch. And I was looking forward to a good 5th test day.....
Out of interest Stapel, which side do you and other Dutch cricket followers support when England play SA?

Pretty confident now that England will make our stay at number 1 longer than expected. Well done England !!!

What makes you think there are other Dutchmen following England - SA ;) ?
Well, there are a few, tbh.

I guess I have a slight bias for SA, simply for having a few Dutch names in their side. However, what I want to see, is a proper test match. During the fifth day on the first match, I was hoping for a SA win, but I can very easily get enthousiastic about any Englishman's bowling spell or top innings.

When (Dutch) friends ask me which team I support, I usually tell them that one does not need a favourite to enjoy watching cricket, and if they would know more about the game, they would understand that.

There is one team I always support anyway (apart from the Dutch team) and those are the Windies. When cricket was explained to me in 1995 (I justed posted about that in the 'is Cricket your fav sport' thread), the Windies were visiting England. I assumed that England were picking easy former colonial opponents to lift their moral, and decicded to support Lara, Walsh and Ambrose........ What did I know...., Cricket being considered extremely posh here in The Netherlands (or rather, a time-passing opportunity for bored, British, homosexual, tea-drinking aristocrats).

We just beat the number one team by an innings, we'll be fine. Reckon we'll take the series 2-0.
