If this series is instructive in one thing, though, it's that individual highlights by players won't guarantee a series win. Come to think of it, so did the Ashes.
Hmm, depends. In the Ashes our highlights were all grouped together like Cardiff whereas a Gayle highlight like the one in the last Test and the one today have really given the WI a leg up. Come to think of it if anyone had played a 131(139) in the second Test we might have won it...

The Ashes showed the opposite, I thought. Broad, Jimmeh and Flintoff bowl a good spell each and England do not-much else but still take the series.

Pakistan will never beat Aus in a million years so I will not mind a bit of individual highlights atleast to take some thing away from the series.

Johnson was ****ing poo today.
Are any Australian fans worried about Johnson? Was awsome against South Africa last year but has been pretty much garbage in every test match since & doesn't seem to be improving.

For someone who I still consider a middle-of-the-road battle, Travis Dowlin is doing well for himself. Good on him, giving hope to depth in the West Indies batting ranks.

lol at aussie commentators ripping into Benn while ignoring johnsons shove
Yeah, cricinfo saw it the way I did....

"For a non-contact sport, the game became physical when Sulieman Benn, Mitchell Johnson and Brad Haddin were involved in an exchange during a tense couple of minutes. Haddin drove back down the pitch and there was a harmless collision between Benn, who was trying to field the ball, and Johnson, who was taking off for a run. However, what should have been a non-incident turned ugly when Haddin, having completed the single, pointed his bat at Benn as if to remonstrate on Johnson's behalf and some terse words were exchanged between Benn and Haddin. Benn was not about to back down and when the batsmen met in the middle of the pitch at the end of the over, he imposed himself on the meeting by pointing at Haddin over the shoulder of Johnson and accidentally brushing the batsman, who pushed Benn away. The match referee will certainly be reviewing the footage of that over."

Probably because Benn wanted to go on with it and Johnson just pushed him away and (presumably) told him to **** off, or words to that effect. He didn't go looking for someone to push.
On the contrary, Benn was talking to Haddin, when Johnson gave him a shove....

Personally, I think they should've shook hands at the end of the day, and forgotten about this. But Chris Broad had to make an incident of this - he really knows how to botch things up, doesn't he?
8-)
It's beyond me how he can charge Benn with the more serious offence than either Haddin or Johnson. But not totally surprising, given Broad's history with that Gambhir 'incident'....

Yes I'm in the awkward position of disliking Benn and praying for a ban that will give a better spinner a chance whilst also bristling with indignation at the match referee's one sided interpretation of the incident. It has happened too many times with Broad and something has to be done.

Yeah, something good may come of this - Jaggernauth may finally get his second Test, or Nikita Miller will get another chance....

We can but hope. Though the fascination with Benn is such that they will probably just play the 4 prong until his suspension ends

Jaggernauth needs to rediscover his confidence and form this upcoming domestic season. When he's bowling well he's comfortably better than Benn. But the powers that be seemed to set things up for a justification not to pick him again.

Picked against Australia on a pitch not very conducive to spin, and then bowled primarily on day one.

Why is Benn facing a harsher punishment han Haddin or Johnson? By logic it is always the guy who makes physical contact who gets the ban. Wasn't that the logic applied to Gambhir and Watson?
