**Official** Pakistan in New Zealand (3 tests)

Have a horrible feeling this will be a bore draw.

And people wonder why Central Districts struggle with winning. Its because our bowlers have to bowl on crap like this (and the opposition might just possibly play better).

Can't argue with that, Southee, Arnel and Boult are all exceptional bowlers :)
They don't have to bowl at Napier though yet still have good records *lays bait*

In all seriousness, Arnel i think it was ripped through CD a couple of years back on a Napier belter, thats when i started rating him. If you can take wickets at Napier or Eden Park, you have something going for you.

So...Black Caps bowling line up of Mason, Thompson, Shaw and Tuffey for the next test then. :p

Only one team can lose from here - Pakistan..but it is most likely going to be a draw

Well done pathetic Pakistani batsmen..you squandered the chance of a rare overseas series win on the first day!

awta, though you never know with our batting they may collapse first up tommorow and NZl take the win.

Still don't understand whose idea it was to go on a flat track with 4 bowlers that included an unwell Aamir.

Faisal's looks so dire, even when he makes runs.. and I don't mean it in the Paul Collingwood way of being annoying and looking tough to dismiss while playing ugly shots, I mean it in the 'looks like he's going to give a chance every over' way. At least Misbah and Malik look like decent cricketers when they get in - Farhat and Faisal making runs will just be bad news in the long run, I feel.
haha... yeah Faisal against Mitch, Siddle would be comical especially against the new cherry. Farhat is slightly better but is quite dire in his own way.

Umer is for the long haul but i believe he needs a string of low scores which allows him to rethink about his game and then come back as a better player similar to AB De and M.Clarke.

His 75 at Dunedin convinced me that he can play proper test match innings against quality bowling.

You. Just before.
Read ffs, I know that's not your strongest suit but.

Pakistan's history of young batsmen that have looked good but faded away, it's quite long. That's why, nothing to do with Akmal really.
And

Yea. I reckon he'll never become this "great" batsmen some people are making out he'll be. Tbh I haven't really been that impressed with how he's gone about some of his innings, he's had a crap load of luck in most of them.
Crap load was probably the wrong think to say before it, but he's had luck. Never have I said he's an average player.

Howsie,

apart from Sachin you will struggle to find any teenager who looks like a polished world class bat. Umer is as good a teenage prodigy you can find atleast on the batting front.

I realise that and he's looked good for the most part. But when you see him come in at three (which was stupid imo) and play and miss 5-6 times trying to whack a bowler out of the park you have to wonder what's going through his mind.

That was more a Dunedin hangover, nervous energy I say due to hype created after his first game and to top it off he was made to bat at a position unknown to him in conditions which he might have encountered one or twice in his short career.

Yes he is loose atm very loose but the reason I am hopeful for him is he is a complete natural talent and has shown that he has the technique to play a proper test match innings when the mind is working right.

It boils down to the same failures of PCB/Coaches, failure to mentor and groom this natural talent into something Great! They have wasted so much talent because of no proper grooming or mentoring of young players.....even the ones such as Miandad, Inzi, Anwar who did emerge as greats struggled in some areas of "technique" which once exposed led to their demise as well. Now you have a young natural talent, if they can mentor him and fix his thinking process about how to initiate an innings or plan an innings, he can be just as great as anyone...........

Look at Afridi for example, look at what he is doing now that he is a bit more mature and responsible about his batting. Had this maturity been some how instilled by the coaches or the seniors into him by putting more responsibility on his shoulders, instead of dropping him and putting him back on the field back and forth, he would have achieved a lot more........a lot earlier in his career.
