**Official** Pakistan in New Zealand (3 tests)

JBH001

International Regular
What was he dropped on again when he made 120 odd, six wasn't it? How many times did he play and miss when he made that 46 in the first innings in Wellington? He's played one solid knock in New Zealand, everything else has involved a fair amount of luck.

As for never becoming a great batsmen, well that's my opinion. I've seen it happen to a heck of a lot of Pakistan batsmen in the past where they've started of really well at a young age and just fell away.
Right, dropped on 6 but forget the other 114 runs or the presence of mind to put it behind him and keep going. What is this? The resurrection of the FCA? Right, played and missed for 46 attacking runs. Yep, he should have been out if only... But forget the patient, grafting half century and the other quickfire 52. Forget also the chutzpah of taking on Vettori, or after having given a near chance at zero, smacking a six to get off the mark today.

You are right, he may never become a great batsman despite having more talent than most of the current NZ batting line-up combined. There are too many variables left to make a judgement on that. But he has been a class batsman this tour, and your (in my view) bs about luck does him discredit.

Rchard seems to have a new FCA. that would say 6 out and then 114 out. Giving 120 over 2 innings.

If Umar Akmal was a Kiwi Howsie would be singing his praises.

If Umar was from Northern Districts you mean, Athers.

Anyway, thought I'd come in and praise Iain "The Legend" O'Brien.

Might not have many more chances so....

GooooooO'BRIEN!!

Indeed, he's either blind or in denial if he can't see that Umar's unbelievably talented. Can't wait to see the young lad take on the Aussie's on those decks.

Anyone else think that the scheduling this summer is rather odd? No more games until Feb! we have such crap weather in NZ and we dont even use a whole month of summer, mind bathling! Perhaps so the blackcaps can play more T20's?

No doubt hes got a lot of talent but I agree, I can see him just fading away like many a Pakistani

Nah, strikes me as having a more steely & resilient look in his eye than a lot of their other flash-in-the-pans. Also, he has a great mentor in his brother Kamran who's has been a magnificent ambassador for Pakistan cricket despite a couple of lean spells in the middle of his career.
