Just when 1 thinks Pakistan couldn't get more unpredictable.....

Yep reckon we should still win this. The draw is heavy favourite with the bookies. Even though Pakistan seemed to do it easy in the two sessions today, surely with a 100+ run lead NZ are still a good chance to take this out?
LolHamish Bennett. Scored some pretty high reviews in the Emerging players tournament in July.
Pretty good performance in his first game back from injury against the best team in the country.

He has a pretty good SR in FC also.
Whoops, my mistake. Decent record anyhow, hope he brings that average down during the year and makes a push at the New Zealand team.Lol
73 wickets at 39.84 with a strike rate of 64 and one 5fer? You've mised up his List A and FC strike rates too btw. His List A one is 34.
Lets see....who will you hate the most....Ewen Thompson strike rate is 57 and Lance Shaw's is 47.
McClenaghan rates Shaw ftr.Whoops, my mistake. Decent record anyhow, hope he brings that average down during the year and makes a push at the New Zealand team.
Thompson and Shaw, meh. They're both as bad as each other imo, not even close to international standard.
Yet noticeably superior to Bennett in terms of striking abilityWhoops, my mistake. Decent record anyhow, hope he brings that average down during the year and makes a push at the New Zealand team.

Domestic records mean very little, our batsmen have already shown that.McClenaghan rates Shaw ftr.
And no, Bennetts record is crap. He needs to improve it considerably.
Tim McIntosh-Vulnerable early on in FC, pathetic early on in testsDomestic records mean very little, our batsmen have already shown that.
While points 1-3 might sound stupid, they're not as bad as you make them out to be. If I'm selecting between a few players and can't decide on who to pick age might come into it. No point picking a 30+ batsmen/bowler if he's only slightly better then a 24 year old.Tim McIntosh-Vulnerable early on in FC, pathetic early on in tests
Martin Guptill-Poor in FC, poor in tests
Daniel Flynn-sucks in FC cricket, sucks in tests
Peter Fulton-Good in FC and A team, poor in tests
Jesse Ryder-Excellent FC, excellent test
Ross Taylor-good FC, even better in tests
Mathew Sinclair-awesome in FC, average in tests
Grant Elliott-average in FC, poor in tests
Pretty accurate actualy. But of course there's the Howsie selection policy to consider.
1) are they under 25?
2) are they fast
3) are they from ND
Face it, Bennetts poor. He bowls 140 and he's about as likely to succeed in tests atm as Ewen Thompson in India is. But you won't be able to handle it because you like to chase glamorous pipe dreams.

But he's to quick so he musn't have very good control, we'd be much safer picking Lance ShawHey, I hope you're not writing off Bennett.
Sure, he hasn't been taking wickets frequently enough in order to give you a nice average, but with each season he has improved a lot.
His last season tally of 26 (FC) wickets @ 29.26 isn't poor, and he has shown he can produce matching winning spells, like when he bowled Canterbury to winning the State Championship in 2008.
He's getting better but seriously...picking him now?Hey, I hope you're not writing off Bennett.

I wouldn't necessarily say Bennett is poor, he's been improving year on year, and is still only 22. However, you're right in that he's never been anything more than ok in FC cricket, and until he starts performing consistently excellent there's no point in even raising his name.Tim McIntosh-Vulnerable early on in FC, pathetic early on in tests
