Haha, some ludicrous posts so far today, bring back Cribb/Flem/etc. Who cares how slowly you bat? It's the second day of a Test, let them take their time and build a platform.
Going to like this one...

**** me this is boring. Wicket is flat, pancake flat and the R/R is nearly under 2 runs an over.

Great innings that 8-)

Martin Guptill should never of even been close to test selection yet he's now played eight test matches with a highscore of 60. Oh, and great time to get Taylor out here.

ffs we are hopeless.

Taylor almost out for his first Test duck. Phew.

And yeah, I don't ****ing care how slow they bat. This is the team that got bowled out for 99 ffs. They can score as slow as they like as long as the get a decent score in the end.

I am happy with Watling's inning. But I can see him getting out over and over outside off stump. He needs to either leave it or go after it. As others have said he likes to fiddle around out there.

So I geuss thats Guptill for now? :( seeming as he shouldnt have an opportunity to make many runs in the 2nd innings

Still not convinced he's a top order batsman at test level, but NZ have had this problem for 10-15 years now. Heaps of good middle order stroke-players, but few solid openers/no.3s.

Great piece of bowling from Karneria, must be said

I guess we have a couple of leggies kicking around the FC circuit but none in the class of Kaneria.- I think it makes it hard for our new batsman to adjust and pick the spin out of the hand.

Perhaps our groundsmen should produce more spin friendly pitches to help prepare us for play at the top level.

Agreed. If it werent for the appreciation of the Pakistani bowling especially at the end I would probably have dropped off to sleep in front of the telly. Need to up the tempo a little if they want to take this test anywhere.

At least Tim Southee's playing, for some odd reason I enjoy watching him bat (as long as he's having a swing though).

Tim McIntosh needs to start looking to score runs though, instead of trying not to get out.

Maybe because he plays for ND? 8-)

Nah, **** off.
He can score as slowly as he wants. This is a ****ing test match.
As long as Taylor get set, the runs will come from his end. And if we end up with a solid platform (Thanks to the likes of McIntosh grinding it out at one end), then we should be able to score at a fair clip near the end of the innings with the likes of Vettori and McCullum.

Argh!!
