Sorry lads, haven't been around much the past few days, but yeah will wrap this up this week.

There are at least three or four guys (Langeveldt, Morgieb, Marcuss plus at least one other) who have said they are going to send in a list and haven't yet. I reckon we should give them another day or two and then I'll do the final tally and start the countdown.
countdown? that is damn good sean. i was expecting the list staight up. but countdown is a very interesting idea. will involve more discussions and i would love to hear more from other guys. you are a showman, dude

Hey Sean, without mentioning any names is there anyone in the top 25 currently tied on points?

I'm looking forward to the countdown, expecting pie graphs too :p

Without wishing to start a mass debate, do you have any particular reason for leaving him out?
I am not comfortable rating players in an era where Cricket has such a different standard and probably looked much different than it does today. Compounded by the fact that there is no footage of him playing the game and I'm very uncomfortable putting him in such a list.

That would lead me to think that you gave Mynn no recognition either. Correct?
You would be correct.

With all due respect, pictures of his face aren't going to make me rate him higher.

Your choice I suppose. He towered over his contemporaries more even than Bradman, and basically invented the art of batting, but if you want to leave him out of your "Top 25 Aussie Players" squad that's up to you ;)

Well it's meant to be everyone's individual lists. The power of democracy will decide where the correct balance lies.

At such a formative stage, I find his feats towering over his contemporaries not near what Bradman did. For Bradman, the game was established, the sport had grown and it was much much more professional.

I respect his genius in how he helped develop modern batting; but that's about where it stops. In my mind you put him on the field with any of my 25 and he'd look dodgy to say the least. It has nothing to do with nationalistic bias.

I wonder if Ikki's #1 is the same as mine
Flintoff?

:p

He certainly isn't the same as mine as that particular "gentleman" doesn't even appear on his list

Not quite sure what you mean by this, but in terms of towering, his performance in 1871 (not to mention the subsequent decade or so) is about as towering as anyone has ever been. 17 FC centuries were scored in total that year, and WG got 10 of them...

Anyhow it's your list old boy and it's for you to set your criteria - fair play to you.
