It shows really that with this squad being kept for the 2nd Test, we have to play Tuffey, Bond, Martin, O'Brien as we're such a bowler sort here.

That's a long tail - mind you it is not as if Elliot contributed too much at 6.
Franklin hurt his knee while running between the wickets in the warm up game.
He is going to have injections on it. If that doesn't work then he gets surgery and will be gone for 9 months.

Yeah, exactly re Elliott. Shows how much we miss someone like Franklin really and perhaps for the 3rd Test we need to be looking at someone who can bowl 10-15 overs and contribute with the bat. Who that could be from domestic cricket I have no idea.

Looking like game, set, match to Pakistan here. NZ will rue so many missed opportunities over the course of the whole match, obviously the second innings batting in particular.
Really disappointed actually, as this series is a chance to show that this developing team is finally making real progress and can actually win matches - instead it is Pakistan who are showing this.

I asked the same question earlier and was told the cupboard was bare. In another year Kane might bat at 6 and trundle through some off spin for us.
