And they're all not the greatest. Pinga avergaed pretty high last season too, can't recall How's though time away failing at tests would drag down his average I imagine.
How was around 40 odd including his Tests and Pinga was close to 60 for a lot of the season.

It was quite odd how well the openers were doing and how poorly the #3s went.

Brodie averaged around 30 and went unchanged for Wellington the whole season.

Also good to see Jeets getting a couple wickets, hope he scythes through the rest.

Patton's average at Napier: 79
Patton's average away from home: 21

Flat track bully by the looks of things.

Who is Wells?
Jeez he took a 5fer in his last game as well.

McSkimming has been taken to the cleaners by CD despite all the wickets, 2 maiden overs and 8 other overs that went for 68. Very odd game.

Rance (?) with a quick 50 down at number 9.

Maybe so.

Napier isn't AS bad in FC matches as it is in tests, Auckland would be the flattest.

Patton may not be amazing, but his record so far is nothing to scoff at.

After having a think, I actualy quite like Canterbury's batting as well. Papps, Nicol, Myburgh, Fulton, Harris/Stewart. Stop picking Todd Astle ffs. :@:p

80/7 btw, after Otago racked up 534.
What are the respective FC avergaes of your "top three" again? :p

Sam Wells looks to be a good find for Otago. There was a guy at my school with the same name so he got my attention at the start of the season. Not the same player though, which in some ways is good: would have been furious to see a bowler originating from CD doing so well for another province.

Wonder why Jeremy Kuru bowled only nine overs? Another for the injury books? He bowled nicely too.

Thommo picked up five, good reward for being the only real bowler we have considering Mason doesn't appear to be the same since injury (though he picked up five last game iirc).

Sam Wells 5/26 looks to be outstanding. How, Patton, Run Machine, Weston and Worker were his wickets.

Rance played a needed knock of 71 off 50 balls, proving the pitch is nice and Wells was simply outstanding. Only How, Griggs and Patton aside from Rance were able to make anything of their innings, getting starts.

Charlie Shreck is back!! Liked having him bowl for Welly. ND via use of their much needed and used lower order recovered from 51/5 to 281 all out, Yovich and McGlashan doing all the work. Yovich seems to be in the batting form off his life atm.

Charlie Shreck took 4/48 and McKay 3/51

Wellington's second innings is teetering with Arnel looking to go on another rampage. The amazing Mathew Bell was out for a duck and Brodie gone for four. Boam is on 4* off one ball, obviously not afraid there :p

Arnel has 3/4, awesome.

Ah, don't worry. I don't think too many teams will rack up scores against ND this season. Our bowling attack is ridiculously good at the moment, we have a few guys that probably wont get a game this season that would be in other teams first XI's.

ND are just like New Zealand tbh. We rely on our really good 5-10 scoring us runs.

This Kuru kid is about 24 I think, and was touted a few years back as being able to bowl mid 140's. Where has he been?

So to the game - 9 overs for stuff all at second change? Must be an injury as, like you said, he seemed to bowling nicely and on a flat pitch.

Lad can certainly hit them too - looking at previous batting scores.

Checking the CD website they still have Sherlock listed with them (I thought he was now with Auckland) - here is a piece from his bio: "Capable of bowling fast but brittle and has not fulfilled potential."

Why are they not playing Mitch? Not good enough, perhaps they don't see him suited to this form of the game or maybe he is injured?

Oooh, I like the sound of this Kuru guy now  Oh and McCleanghan's out for the season with a pelvic injury.

That was the talk around the club scene a year or two back - that he was rapid, one guy quoted in the local paper that things were a lot easier not having someone bowling near 150's. Speculation of course - but would be interesting to know his story.

Bummer about Mitch - this season was shaping up to be a very important one for him.

So its actualy confirmed he's gone for the season then?

Good, he can come on here and tell Howsie that Pinga and Patton are excellent batsmen. :p

Just checked cricinfo again to make sure, and yep Kuru is listed as medium fast. Doesn't mean anything though, as Mitchell McClenaghan and Hamish Bennett are as well and Davis is right arm fast medium (if Howsies estimates are correct he's still Brett Lee pace).

Anyone catch the cricket show debut last night? I quite liked it, was entertaining.

Just popping in to brag the worst batting line up in the country are 303/3 with the Taranaki duo of Ingram..bugger cursed it as I was writing.

Ingram gone for 135, Weston on 48*.

Further adding to my happiness is ND are choking. Woodcock on 93* and Smelly on debut getting his fifty and still there. Howsie why don't you make comment today? :p
