*Official* Sri Lanka in India

Whatever it takes!!!
And would have been curtains for India in that case, as the way Welagedara and Prasad bowled. And Mathews would have been very much effective as well. Generally SL seamers easily outdid their Indian counterparts.
maybe.. I just trust our batters a lot more on seaming tracks than the SL batsmen.

If its a seamer apart from Sanga,Sachin and Dravid all are suspect I feel.
yeah.. but we have two and they have one.

I will put Dilshan on par with Sehwag on a seamer. Neither are likely to last. :p

Gambhir > their other opener.

Dravid = Sanga.

Sachin > Jaya

Laxman > Samaraveera

Yuvi = Matthews

Dhoni > PJ

That is why I would trust our batters a lot more than their batters on a seamer.

On current form even on a seamer Samaraweera > Laxman. And if they play according to the reputations Mathews > Yuvraj against pace. Othewise, why would such weak player s of spin has a vital place in the line up?

I think the only world class test fast bowler Sri Lanka ever had was Chaminda Vaas. India have had Javagal Srinath, Zaheer Khan, Ishant Sharma etc who have caused more problems to the batsman than perhaps Vaas.
But less prlific and consistent than Vaas

Malinga is an exciting prospect but he has not done much in test cricket.
He'll be back

Thushara is just average however I like him because he is handy with the bat.
India will love to have a bowler who bowls 82-88mph and hit the pitch as hard as him dearly. He's possibly better than any one from India's 2nd line bowling line up

I actually wanted Kulasekara in the SL team because I rate him above the present seam lineup. He is accurate and has the sort of nippy pace that is dofficult to tackle on Indian surfaces. I also like him as a lower order batsman.
On docil pitches he's not much of use. But on seaming pitches he's deadly.

There's really no way you can say Matthews is better than Yuvraj, atleast not in this point in his career.

Hope your joking

Beating an injury-decimated NZ hardly makes up for being humiliated at 2 major tournaments, being beaten by a B team, seeing your mostpromising player go backwards and fielding an attack with less teeth than a gummy bear

Australia suffered a first round exit at the 20-20 champs as well - Need I remind you.As well as being thumped 4-1 at home by the Saffies and losing 3-2 away.
And they lost the Ashes to a mediocre England team who were unable to beat either India or SAF in their past two home seasons.

If Dhoni's performance has been horrible, what do you say about Ponting's ?

how do you explain "current" form? Laxman last played a test ages ago and was in wonderfully good form for Lancashire on precisely the same "seaming" tracks...

You are contradicting yourself here... You yourself have supplied the answer for why Yuvi is there if he is so weak against spin.. It must be because he is good elsewhere, right? :p

PS: I am not advocating Yuvi is good against seamers but better than Samaraweera, yeah I would take him..

Samaraweera is a better test player than Yuvraj. But the comparison is with Mathews and Yuvraj. Yuvraj has shown that he sucks against spin, and Mathews is doing his best to show he's going in same foot steps. Actually my reference was to Mathews, not Yuvraj.

Being a better test player is different.. I think Yuvi is more destructive and hence more dangerous on a seaming tracks, because as far as I am concerned, both have glaring weaknesses in their techniques than can be exposed on a seaming track.

No, he is there because the Indian selectors are on a six year Test cricket fantasy with him.

He is not a quality player. He should not play any Tests. Ever again. Obviously you can't drop him since he did well in the last Test, but he should have been dropped long ago. Wait until he starts failing again (and he will), and then drop him. And please keep him dropped. Terrible player.

Though I agree with you SS, he WAS dropped. He was then RECALLED, and hasn't really done too badly since.
