In the future he will bat at 6,mcdonald and moss started at 7/8 in the vics line up,hastings is a bonafied allrounder,we saw how good a hitter when him and finch smashed tassie.
BTW liam buchanan in fine fettle in grade may have to move states to get a run tho.

Hastings is a big fella, who hits a really consistent length. Plenty of people see him and think that he's not special because he doesn't bowl "miracle" balls, but he just continually thumps the ball in the right areas.
Saw him bowl in a couple of 20/20s and he doesn't look like a fantastic bowler. But from what I see he's getting results.

I think he could be a very handy domestic player but doesn't quite have the talent to become a solid international.

Considering Drew and Krejza dominated Sydney Grade cricket before they moved, I don't think so. That attack wasn't that bad, just lacked a 5th bowler.

Also is Marsh retired from OD cricket, seems a tad strange?
It has nothing to do with a 5th bowler. You should not NEED a 5th bowler. The first 4 bowlers should be able to the job and having a 5th bowler is simply a bonus.

Not if Butterworth is one of those four bowlerrs, you always beed 5 maybe 6 bowlers with him in the side. I know they have a couple injuries, but it strange they play 6 bowlers in ODs, then play 4 in FC.

Bailey gone for 112. Glad he managed to get to three figures for once.

Also very pleased for Nick Kruger, if he had of failed I doubt that he would have been picked next Shield game.

Anyone else enjoying the live stream of the Weet-Bix Sheffield Shield match - WA vs VIC?

Such a great idea by cricket.com.au.

Interesting to see NSW giving Smith so much bowling. His bowling looked nothing more than part-time when i saw him the Champions Laeague.

DWTA. His two wickets in the final were both of long hops, but he seemed to have a decent wrong 'un and he's still pretty young. Could well make a decent ODI player.

Useful leg-spinner is Smith, but will never be much more than average. He does possess some good variety, and I have seen him give the ball a good rip at times, but ATM he bowls more long-hops than Daniel Doran.

He will end up taking the Cam White route I believe, his batting is definitely more promising, and he can strike a cricket ball well. Wouldn't shock me if he was fast-tracked into the Australian ODI/T20 team at some stage over the next two years if he keeps his performances up.

Sylvester

State Captain
Smith has always been a work in progress, Jenner said he needs 5 years before he is at the right stage and that was said last year. His control should develop with more matches.

Too many Queenslanders for the side to truly be "all stars".
I know you say this in jest, but all deserve to be there. QLDers clearly benefitting from having the match at the GABBA and plus playing the most early season matches.
