Perhaps that's the culture difference, I'd always rather see my team trying to win - like in the Champions Trophy, we lost, but it was a really good effort/entertaining chase.
You were trying to win that game :-O

(Smith excluded, of course)

Oh absolutely. btw do you know why Sidebottom didn't play? Not saying he'd have won us the game, but having two proper bowlers wouldn't have done any harm.
Just injured I'd have thought, he's not in the T20 or ODI squad but in the Test squad.

Propose Luke Wright is now known as 'Gash' Wright. A catchy name that perfectly illustrates his inability to play cricket (something previously often required for International cricket)
He's got some competiton for that particular nickname in this side, hasn't he?

Based on these two games England Best T20 XI looking ahead of T20 WC IMO:

Trott
Kieswetter/Davies
KP
Shah
Collingwood
Morgan
Flintoff
Mascarenhas
Swann
Broad
Anderson

backups: Rashid, Denly, Sidebottom/Bresnan, Wright.

I think my facebook update expresses my opinion pretty well "Never have I been more proud to call myself American than when seeing Saj back in an England shirt"

Wright and Saj just do not possess the skills required to be high level cricketers. There are others in the team that are not very good players but none that are so completely lacking in what is needed as these two.

well it was much the selectors as anything. Denly shouldn't be playing in t20 or odis. Cook shouldn't be allowed anywhere near t20, though he may work out as a odi bat - will just have to wait and see. Truly horrible selections. rashid shouldn't be playing limited overs stuff - i don't see what good it does when he's desperately needed as a test bowler and you're teaching him to get smashed and bowl flat non-turning rubbish. then you've got prior and mahmood... No explanation needed.

Preach, although i reckon Wright could have SOME use in T20s.

It is so annoying how keen selectors are to ignore his average showings for Lancashire. He is still the same bowler that he has always been, one capable of the odd blisteringly quick delivery that can go through most batsman but who often supplies medium paced pies.

Quite interested in seeing this Kuhn fellow.
Have been hearing about him for a good few years, TT_Boy is big fan. Glad they picked him, that means their recent interest in getting Kieswetter back could be easing off.

I don't understand this idea of sticking to traditional openers in this format of the game. Only 120 balls are there and one ought to make the best T20 players play majority chunk of them. If that means a hitherto middle order player has to open, let it be. It makes no sense to see Cook and Denly opening the innings and Pietersen, Morgan etc coming in so late down the order.

Massive lol at England expecting something different from Saj this time around. Worked out well, that.

Here is my prediction so far for the 1st test going with batting line up and based on current season form.

1. Smith
2. Elgar
3. De Villiers
4. Prince
5. Dumminy
6. Kallis
7. Boucher
8. Harris
9. Morkell/
10. Tsotsobe
11. Steyn

Morkell a bit sketchy but he is hitting form. Elgar set to make debut with second highest run score in SS series and the no 1 batsman not counting as he had a knock of 390.

The only chance any other player has to make this squad is at number 9, 10 or a new wicket keeper.
