Super sub Nejc Pecnik, who moved from Celje to Nacional Madeira this summer, scores an important away goal three minutes from time for Slovenia, who thus get out of Russia with 1-2.

Egypt 1-0 up already...(Zaki)

**** me dead. :-O Liam Lawrence has just missed an open goal for yer Micks; some justice tbh as there was a blatant handball from Keane in the build up, but still...

0-0 after nearly half hour.

EDIT: actually, on replay Evra deflected it wide. Great defending.

Loved it. Utterly loved it. As soon as we walked to our seats with about 15 minutes to go before kickoff, I knew this was going to be special. The crowd was going crazy at that point and there wasn't a ball in sight! Few hairy moments early on where we seemed to struggle to get the ball out of our half (we were directly behind the goal at the southern end which Bahrain was attacking in the first half), but that clinical finish from Fallon was super, at which point the crowd again went mental. I was a little worried the players weren't as focused as they could be, as they were clapping the supporters as they came out at the start of the game and as they went in to half time, but it seems they channeled that brilliantly.

As soon as Paston saved that penalty (and for some reason I had a feeling deep down that he would), I knew it was ours.

Puts any other NZ crowd or even sporting experience to shame - the only downside was the guy in front of us who really shouldn't have been taking his shirt off...

I'm not a huge football fan, but I might end up at a few Phoenix games after last night

Let's hope he gets transferred to an half-decent team before the World Cup, can't have a player from the Cornish Citadel of ****s (alliteration FTW) sullying the entire event.

If FIFA didn't change their rules in June, then not only would Fallon would not be going to the World Cup, he would not have been allowed to have played for New Zealand to score that goal. There is a lesson there, don't play for the England youth teams when you can play for another country.

Ha, lol. Comical dive from Evra in the Ireland play-off. Ref not fooled, happily.

Should've been a yellow card tho.

Awesome stuff - made me want to be in Wellington to experience it myself. Looked an absolutely amazing crowd putting rugby and cricket crowds at the cake-tin to shame.

Ah, the NZ tried and tested method.

Now NZ have qualified I wonder if a few lower league players will discover a kiwi grandparent?
I believe there is a young lad at Ipswich Town who can play for England or New Zeland, will try and get around that he has played for the England youth teams.
