**Official** New Zealand v Pakistan in UAE

It's not green pitches though (not that you get many of those) - it's practically any pitch which allows the new ball to move around a little.
While I agree he is probably best suited to when the ball is a little older I disagree with your above statement. The ball generally ALWAYS swings in NZ given our humidity, especially places like Hamilton and Napier. Add the fact that he's pretty much always in early i'd say he plays the swinging ball as well as most.

Poor Scaly, McCullum ruining your evening like that.....
Err I don't particularly care who wins/loses/does well. It's just another mickey mouse ODI series(TM) involving two teams I couldn't give a toss about, I'm following it as a mildly entertaining diversion.

If it would help you out both teams could pretend that it's a meaningful semi final and I could then pretend to laugh when NZ get their arses handed to them.

And considering how the last semi turned out they both played...

I know its a bit early to judge but what does everyone else think of McCullum opening post Moles? Think he looked far more natural and was far more willing to play attacking strokes. Easily his best opening knock and his best knock in the first innings.

I dont have a problem with McCullum opening if he is prepared to play his natural game and take it to the opposition. I just have a huge problem when he tries to shoulder too much responcibility and craft an innings (which he sucks at). So maybe post-Moles he might work at the top.

Well he did craft a great innings in that match. Started reasonably slowly like 20 from 30 and then launched. Thats far better I think.

Ive seen him get us into a hole on too many occassions for that innings to abolish it. I dont want him to go for a slog from the top but he needs to understand its not the end of the world if he gets out and that 20 (15) is far better for the team than 35 (55).

I think it's too early to judge him. He played very well, but like you said he was 20 of 30 at one point and that's when he's been getting out lately. Looking forward to seeing how he backs that 100 up tbh.

So thrilled with the win the other night. Was just following it on my phone and couldn't believe it when McCullum actually converted his start to a hundred. Awesome! Left me very happy, obviously because it was a match-winner but also because I'm in the 'McCullum should stay as an opener' camp.

On the negative side, Broom and Styris seem to be competing to make the least compelling case as next-in-line as a middle-order batsman. Score some runs dammit!

Also, Oram scoring 30?!?!? I could hardly believe my eyes. Cemented that spot at number 8 then ;)

It's going to be a good tight last match. I hope the pitch is as good as the last one.
Yep looking forward to it!

I really wish this series was five matches. Could easily be playing two more ODIs in place of those T20s.

Also, first match was compulsory at-least-once-per-series batting collapse from NZ.

Match two was a mini-collapse from Pakistan but still scored 234 which is not totally dreadful. Am wondering whether that counts as Pakistan's obligatory batting collapse for the series, or whether they are still due :p

Tbh Oram still looked pretty bad, he did a decent job but he didn't really middle anything in the last five or so overs.

He did alright yeah hardly anything to get too excited about, was disappointed in how many boundaries he hit. Turning the strike was fine when McCullum was there but Bond was the reason we got over 300.

Congrads to Kiwis on a fine game.....especially McCullum played a great innings for his country.

As far as Pak is concerned, i have started to doubt YK's tacticts now more then before. Umar Akmal should have played....there was no reasoning to drop a player like him. Secondly....YK needs to bat lower down the order...why is he batting with such terrible form at 1 down position is beyond me. Thirdly....Mohammad Yousuf is arguably the best batsman at this time in Pakistan side, he needs to bat at 3 or at least 4....you can 't put him at number 6, thats too late...Afridi i think is better suited for a 6-7 postion.

Pak can't rely on the likes of Butt or Imran Farhat, i still can't believe a player like Butt is playing.. God knows how many brilliant players like Umar and Aamir are sitting out of the team because players like Butt and Farhat have good connections in PCB. Its hight of injustice............and unfortunately in Pakistan Cricket this is never going to end.....may be Pakistan cricket will end but this corrupt management will never end..........

Hope we have a good final....good luck to NZ.
