*Official* Australia in India - ODIs

Firstly... This series is no more pointless than the 7 ODIs vs. England. But Aust were winning that one so that's cool.
Actually many said ATT that that 7-match ODI series was a waste of time. It should have been no more than 5. Ponting himself was sort of saying that recently.

Secondly, I didn't realise Tim Paine and James Hopes had been playing non-stop. They were clearly tired from the 5 test matches they played, plus the Champions League of course.

That Ashes series must have been a bit of a burden on Brett Lee as well.

Oh wait...
Well yes Hopes & Paine being injured had nothing to do with this series. Those where unfortunate.

But even though Lee didn't play in the Ashes, clearly the amount of cricket at such a none stop rate clearly got him injured again. The fact that he has so little time to betwen NSWs CL final & the first ODI was really ridiculous.

Whatever it takes!!!
So which other series should have been rescheduled to accommodate this monumentally important one?

The Ashes?

Oz in SA?

The Champions Trophy?

The entire Oz summer of cricket?

Obviously, all should've been scrapped so that Oz could arrive in India for this series in tip top condition
the equally pointless 7 ODIs? And wasn't the champions trophy also pointless a while back? I guess they all became the paragon of everything good about the game once Australia started winning though... :p

It was his decision to play for NSW though.. He could have always opted out... He himself has said the injury was not because of the CL...

If you want to blame something, blame the CL.. But dont be stupid and blame a bilateral international ODI series between the #1 and 2 sides in the world which has been on the anvil for a very long time, even though you keep saying it was only planned recently. Knowing this for one year and then saying this series is pointless now is basically stupid.

You're right, Aus should've cancelled all their other commitments for the year and scheduled 300 odis with India

What's more, if they decide that they have to go through the inconvenience of playing someone else in Australia during our summer (a ridiculous thought I know), flights from India typically arrive at about 7am so that leaves plenty of time to get to the ground before one of these meaningless tests

hey, if any cricket against India is meaningless, so must be the extra special ODIs scheduled for the home summer against the mighty Windies... Or you just like to play the teams that you know you will beat? 8-)

Once more for the dummies

Australia (and India - but they choose to ignore it) are obligated to play home and away series against each full ICC member every couple of years.

These ODIs DO NOT form part of that agreement, are nothing more than a money making exercise and, to make matters worse, are jeopardising the team's summer by producing injuries without providing relevant match practice

In short, they are a complete waste of time no matter who wins

In such a slow game like this, each time needs a biffer to come off and blast the other team out. Promote Johnson up the order?

Isn't this the ODI leg of Australia's tour last year?

Lol, just when you think it's safe to go back in an Aus-Ind tour thread again, here's Social picking a fight with our subcontinent members and HB taking everything to heart again.

The seasons change, history becomes legend, legend becomes myth, but nothing ever changes on the Wheel of Time.

So now's not a good time to come on and mention how Dhoni must have known White didn't hit that and therefore shouldn't have appealed? (GilchristcatchesDravidinSydneylogic.jpeg)

not watchign the game.. but feel bad for White if it was indeed a bad decision. Poor guy certainly can do without being given out when he is not at this stage of his career... Might just end up being dropped before soon and it is not a pleasant thought to think that a duck that will be shown up as evidence for his poor form was through no real fault of his own.. :(

Plainly flame baiting and definition of adding nothing to a thread.
Funny how you never react when Social does the same in every other thread.

EDIt: take it back.. spur of the moment reaction. But still feel Jono's point was valid, esp. given that the poster was Social and we all feel his views on such matters change depending on such factors.
